So P5 have started a mini focus on\u00a0&#8220;The Olympics Games&#8221; this week. \u00a0Read on to see how we have linked our learning through this topic.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Reading for information<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We initially looked at the history of the Olympic Games and learned a lot of facts about how it all began. \u00a0From here we have identified the differences between the Modern Games and the traditional Games.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Maths<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We became city planners and created our own Olympic Park. \u00a0We used our knowledge of coordinates and direction to complete this work. \u00a0Through this work we discussed the massive consideration that has to be given to the infra structure of a city which is hosting the Games.<\/p>\n<p><b>Art and Design<\/b><\/p>\n<p>We looked at examples of Olympic torches and medals from over the past few decades. \u00a0We were inspired by these and then used our own creativity to design our own on paper. \u00a0Our next challenge is to try and create a small scale 3D model of these designs.<\/p>\n<p>With the weather being so good for most of this week we have also been discussing how to be Summer Safe. \u00a0Last week during assembly the children were all given information regarding this topic and they received their Summer Safe sticker from West Lothian Council. \u00a0In writing, they were given the opportunity to turn all the information that they were given into a poster or an information leaflet. \u00a0Many are still on going, but so far they look really good.<\/p>\n<p>Another great week P5. \u00a0Well done.<\/p>\n<p>Mrs Currie<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The whole world are on the road to Rio and\u00a0are\u00a0starting to get Olympic fever!
