Awesome P3!

Well what can we say? Another very busy week for Primary 3 who have continued to impress us both with their positive mindsets and enthusiasm. Lots of excitement and anticipation ……..P3 had a very special baby girl as a visitor.

Through the Roots of Empathy programme, P3 are learning all about what she can do and what she can’t do yet as well as her different needs. They were super at singing the Welcome and Goodbye Songs for her and followed all the rules about listening well and not shouting in case it was too noisy.

We are enjoying our learning focus on the BFG story and wrote fantastic Acrostic poems using all of our own ideas. We also had lots of fun using measuring tapes to measure our arms and legs – we even had to measure Mrs Scott’s arm and leg when we were comparing all of our measurements! Sadly, we said goodbye to Fr Paul during a lovely assembly prepared by the P7s. We drew detailed pictures of Fr Paul saying Mass for his special book and we hope he remembers us when he looks at them. We will miss you Fr Paul!

A Great Week in P2/3!

What a great week we’ve had in Primary 2/3!

Our literacy carousels have been a great success, with the children working on spelling, reading and handwriting activities.

Drama was a huge hit, when we played ‘Hot Seating’ and took it in turns to ask questions of George, from our novel George’s Marvellous Medicine.  We explored healthy living when we thought about medicines and how we feel when we are ill.

We tried yoga on Thursday to help make our concentration even better and we all had great fun.

One of our favourite activities this week was our  Go Noodle PE session where we improved some of our dance moves!

On Thursday we said goodbye to Father Paul with a surprise assembly and we all contributed to a special book which the school made for him.

We’re all looking forward to another exciting week next week in Primary 2/3.

A Great Start for Primary 2/3

P2/3 have settled in really well and have worked very hard this week.  We have been so impressed with their team work!  They have enjoyed all of our activities this week including writing snapshots of themselves and creating Marvellous Medicines.  Drama was great fun as we tried out lots of class building activities – there were a lot of laughs and giggles!  Lots of great ideas went into the creation of our Class Charter which we look forward to sharing with you.

Our focus in class over the first three weeks of term is George’s Marvellous Medicine by Roald Dahl. We’re on Chapter 4 already and loving learning about George and his gruesome Grandma!

PE days this year are Monday and Wednesday.

Have a lovely weekend.

Awesome P3!

P3 have settled in really well and have worked incredibly hard this week!   We loved getting to know each other better during our fun activities such as Maths All About Me posters, our Holiday Scavenger Hunt and gathering information using our All About Me bears. We hope you like our Bar Chart display we made! Mrs McMullen and Mrs Scott were very impressed with P3’s wonderful ideas for our own Class Charter. Our classroom is already beginning to take shape and P3 deserve a well earned rest this weekend!

Primary 3/4 News

This week we have been very busy completing all of our assessments.

We worked very hard during our writing assessment. It was very important for us to remember that we have to include all of our connectives, punctuation, openers and WOW words to make sure that our writing was very interesting.

“We wrote a letter to Usain Bolt” said Rachel

We asked him some really fantastic questions. Here are a few examples:

“What has been the biggest track that you have run on? said Evie

“Who inspired you to become the fastest runner in the world?” said Mark

“How much training did it take for you to become the fastest runner in the world?” said Adrin

“What kind of fruit and vegetables do you eat?” said Haseeb

“What are your likes and dislikes?” said Ailie

We hope he does very well in the 2016 Rio Olympics.

As a class we decided to spend our bake sale money on getting some new goldentime toys as our old toys were very OLD. So today we received all of our new goldentime toys and we can’t wait to play with them.

We hope you have a lovely weekend!

Primary 3/4 News

“This week was super” said Adrin 🙂

On Wednesday with Mr Hunter in our outdoor learning we were creating an Olympic torch using junk modelling and sticks from outside.

“We had to use a cup and pierce a hole in the bottom with the stick. Then we had to put the stick in the cup and wrap it with tinfoil and put tissue paper in the cup.” said Ailie.

“The tissue paper was for the fake fire.” said Jay-P

“I enjoyed and it was really fun being creative.” said Shannon

“I put a stick at the bottom and then stuck another stick so that it would be a big torch.” said Hannah

“We also had a mini relay race with our torches. We had to jog instead of running in case our torch broke.” said Haseeb

“We hope you have a nice long weekend.” Said Aoife

Primary 3/4 News

“This week we started our new maths topic ‘fractions’ and it was very interesting” said Rachel.

“The denominator splits things into equal parts” said Evie

“The denominator is the number underneath the numerator.” said Ailie.

“We learned that the top number of a fraction is called the numerator” said Gaby.

“We learned about halves, quarters, thirds. We even spoke about eighths.” Said Jacob

“We worked in teams to split different shapes up into equal parts.” said Shannon.

“The denominator needs to make sure that it splits shapes and numbers into EQUAL parts.” said Kacper.

“We learned that the numerator tells us how many parts are coloured in a fraction.” Said Hannah and Jay.

Next week we will be moving on to how to find out a 1/2 and ¼ of a number.

Mrs Kerr was even pretending to be a robot denominator and numerator. “I will be back next week.” said Mrs Kerr.

Well done to Jan who won this month’s award at our achievements assembly.

Big congratulations to all the primary 4 children who made their Confirmation last Sunday.

Have a lovely weekend!

Summer Fair

summer-fair-web-poster

Our Summer Fair is on Saturday 7th May 10am till 12noon. Pupils were issued a leaflet in school bags this week.

The event needs a large number of volunteers to man the stalls and we really struggle to get people to help. May be you could help for 1 hour or may be 2 hours? Volunteers can be parents, carers, grandparents, aunties/uncles – all family members are welcome to lend a hand. Get in touch via facebook or leave your contact details at the office – WE NEED YOU!
