Good morning everyone,

I have also added the link below where you can continue to download the poster as part of your Happiness packs.

As we continue to look forward and plan for our return to school and seeing each other again I think this is an important message. We will be connected together again in school and until then it is so important to continue to stay connected in the many ways we have been doing.

So what we would like to say to you all is thank you for being so connected with us during lockdown, your learning, lovely messages, ribbons on the fences and the check-ins have helped us to stay connected the St Ninian’s way. There has not been a day where we have not thought about you all and worked hard to keep us all connected during these times.

By connecting with people we are supporting our own wellbeing and the wellbeing of those we connect with. This will help to raise our own and others happiness levels making us all feel better.

We are very much looking forward to connecting with you all again as part of our school family and getting back together to continue to build upon our relationships and learning after the summer.

Have a great day boys and girls and remember to stay connected.

Mrs Docherty HWB Key Messages for our Children Day 5: 17.6.20

Good morning everyone,

I hope you enjoyed yesterday’s post about GIVING. As I will be continuing to share positive and powerful messages today’s theme is MEANING:

I have also added a link where you can download the poster to continue to make up your poster packs over the past week and into this week.

One of the RRS Articles we have explored during lockdown was Article 15: You have the right to join a group and this fits in so well with our message of the day. We know and hope you also know how important you are as part of our amazing group of people who make up our very special school. In school you show such generosity, kindness and love towards all things that help to make our school and also the world a better place. All these small acts will help you as you grow older to become people who care and understand the importance of kindness in our world. I have also attached a little poem for you to enjoy that really puts this message across:

Keep being kind and think of others in your home, school, clubs and in the wider world. You are all stars.

Mrs Docherty HWB Key Messages for our Children day 4: 16.6.20

Good morning everyone,

The theme for this week is support and being there for each other through the good and difficult times. For my blog posts this week I will be continuing to provide you and your children with a key theme and poster to help motivate them and to support them to recognise things they can do to help others and also support their own wellbeing.

Today’s first theme is Giving:

I have also added a link where you can download the poster as part of the pack over the coming days if you would like to display these.

Giving and helping others can come in many forms. We can give something in material ways like a present but we can more importantly also give emotional support to others when we cannot be with them or see them. We can do this by showing kindness and being the listening ear someone might need. As children it is great to recognise how it feels to give someone something that makes not just them happy but also you for doing such an act of kindness.

One of the most powerful messages about giving comes from the wise words of Mother Teresa:

Boys and girls, remember these words and keep giving by doing the simple things like smiling and talking and listening to others with compassion and love.

Have a great day everyone,

Mrs Docherty

Mrs Docherty HWB Positive Song for the Week: 15.6.20

Good morning everyone. Wow, another week begins in lockdown as we move into a new phase of preparation for welcoming back your children in August to our new teaching approach. We cannot do this without looking back and appreciating all you have done for us as a staff team and as your children’s teachers throughout this lockdown and also without saying thank you to the staff team for all they have done.

You as parents have supported us and shown real determination and kindness in what have been remarkable times. You have been with us every step of the way through all the unknown and through all the new approaches we undertook to support you and your children. We would like to say a big thank you to you all and there is no better song to do this and to use as a reflection than:

Leona Lewis: Footprint in the sand.

Please have a listen to the song using the link below and know that we are also here to support you along the way now and into the future as we all return in August

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Wm91RLyPYg&list=RD8Wm91RLyPYg&start_radio=1&t=12

The lyrics for this song below certainly convey our relationships in St Ninian’s as we are fully aware that Relationships Matter!

You walked with me
Footprints in the sand
And helped me understand
Where I’m going

You walked with me
When I was all alone
With so much unknown
Along the way

And I’ll carry you
When you need a friend
You’ll find my footprints in the sand

Have a great day and indeed week everyone knowing that we have been and we continue to be here for each other in this special school.

Mrs Docherty HWB Positive Thought for the Week Kindness: 12.6.20

Good morning everyone. I cannot believe we are at the end of yet another week of learning. I hope you have had a positive week filled with love and laughter and as I always say friendship and kindness.

As linked to our positive song of the Week: Count on Us by Bruno Mars I thought there was no better quote fitting for this week than the quote above. This has most definitely been a two way relationship and all of us has forged and strengthened our unique and special St Ninian’s Relationship.

Kindness and support have also been our key words for this week and indeed every week since the start of lockdown. We as a Team, TEAM ST NINIAN’S have taken every opportunity to demonstrate kindness in order to make a difference to each other’s lives. This is what makes us special and what makes our relationships unique:

Thank you for everything, for your kindness, compassion, understanding and support at this time. Have a wonderful weekend, you all truly deserve it.

As we are all beginning to look forward and plan for our return to school and seeing each other again I think this is an important message. It will be important to set goals and to take our first steps to achieve this all the while supporting each other along the way.

I know that you are brilliant at goal setting boys and girls as this is a big part of your learning journey in St Ninian’s. You set yourself realistic targets and goals and work hard towards achieving these. It is always great to have our learning conversations about what your goals are, why you are setting them, how you will achieve them and then how well you did.

Maybe in the coming weeks you could set yourself some goals to work towards at home or for planning your return to school. If you have any goals you would like to share please share them in the comments section above or via email. I would love to hear them.

One of my goals will be to make sure I am continuing to take time in my day when we return to normality and that I stop and think about what I am appreciative of and what I have achieved.  his is something I have been able to do during lockdown and my goal will be to continue this when lockdown is fully lifted.

What could your goal be?

Have a great day boys and girls and remember to set your goals and follow your dreams.

Mrs Docherty HWB: Key Messages for our Children Awareness day 2 10.6.20

Good morning everyone,

I hope you enjoyed yesterday’s post about ACCEPTANCE. This week and next I will be continuing to share positive and powerful messages for our children and today’s theme is AWARENESS

I have also added a link where you can download the poster as part of the pack over the coming days if you would like to display these.

awareness poster

I love this message and especially at this time. Since lockdown I have shared many posts about stopping and thinking about all the wonderful things we have around us. I know that I have certainly taken time in life to stop and listen, to think and to reflect about what is important to me. When doing this I have been able to hear things that we would not normally take time to hear such as the sounds of nature the birds singing and the calmness all around.

I have also been able to appreciate the power of music and taken time to slow things down and appreciate quiet moments.

Ways to live life mindfully include:

  • Using your senses
  • Looking for changes in your everyday things and daily walks
  • Practice your breathing

Have a great day everyone and take time to listen and hear everything going on around you,

Mrs Docherty

Mrs Docherty HWB Key Messages for our Children: Day 1 9.6.20

Good morning everyone,

The theme for this week is counting on each other. For my blog posts this week I will be looking at providing your children with a key theme and poster to help motivate them and to support them to recognise things they can do to help others and also support their own wellbeing.

A great website to support this is Action for Happiness where there are super ideas and messages of hope, some of which I have been sharing with you over the past few weeks.

Today’s first theme is Acceptance:

I have also added a link below in green where you can download the poster as part of the pack over the coming days if you would like to display these.

In school we always talk about what makes us special and that each and every one of us in the St Ninian’s family bring their own unique talent and skills to help make our school great. These are celebrated at Assemblies, through our committees and of course through our day to day learning.

We are looking forward to everyone returning and sharing their special talents and skills with us again because they are what makes each and every one of you, you, and makes you a special part of the bigger St Ninian’s picture.

Boys and girls, keep being you, you are special in every way.

Mrs Docherty Positive Song for the Week: 8.6.20

Good morning everyone. As we start a new week of online learning I hope you have managed to have a lovely weekend with your families. One of my favourite things is deciding what song suits who we are as a school and as a team.  We are a very special team made up of you as parents, our staff, and of course and most importantly your children.

One song that immediately came to mind was Bruno Mars: Count on Me. If ever there was a song that applied to who we all are at St Ninian’s it is this song. Please have a listen I’m sure you’ll agree:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yc6T9iY9SOU

Just like the quote above the words of the song absolutely ring true:

Find out what we’re made of
When we are called to help our friends in need

You can count on me like one two three
I’ll be there
And I know when I need it I can count on you like four three two
You’ll be there
‘Cause that’s what friends are supposed to do, oh yeah

We have certainly found out what we are all made of during this time. We have been there for each other, counted on each other and showed trust and respect towards each other. This has been evident from the amazing work shared, the messages of support and the touching base asking how are you, and how are you getting on that have been permanent fixtures of our connectedness.

All done with a real sense of compassion and care. What a team St Ninian’s, we are certainly NUMBER 1!!!

Have a great day everyone full of care and compassion,

Mrs Docherty
