Global Goal 4

ENGLISH_Why_it_Matters_Goal_4_QualityEducation

Our discussions focus on Global Goal 4 this week – Quality Education. As a school this is an extremely important goal for us and this reflects in our school Vision and Values and our Curriculum Adventure Rationale.

This goal is to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and the promotion of lifelong learning opportunities for all.

“In some parts of the world, students are going to school every day. It’s their normal life. But in other parts of the world, we are starving for education… it’s like a precious gift. It’s like a diamond…”

Malala Yousafzai

Short but amazing week!!

This week has been  fantastic not just because it’s been a short week but because we have been learning lots of new things!

Aleksander: In writing we have been writing  letters to Mrs Purdie about Global Warming and climate change.

Aidan: We have written formal letters using formal language and layout.

Ailie: In Art we have been drawing self portraits. We used photos of ourselves and had to draw facial features using lots of detail.

Hannah: In RE we were learning about The Last Supper and The Passover.

Camryn: In PE we have been learning all about Athletics. Javelin was our main focus this week.

Evie: We were put in groups to see who could throw the furthest and try to hit the wall.

Jacob: We are going to extend this next week using real javelins!!

Haseeb: We watched a clip all about Climate Change and learned about four different climates. They were tropical, warm, cold and changeable/temperate.

Shannon: In maths we have been learning about Time using an analogue clock and we answered lots of questions. There was questions like calculating the time for journeys and reading analogue clocks.

We are sure you will agree that it has been a busy week, as always, but a really enjoyable week too.

Have a lovely weekend and enjoy the sunshine.

Global Goals

Message from UN Ambassador’s:
In September 2015, 193 world leaders agreed to 17 Global Goals for Sustainable Development. If these Goals are completed, it would mean an end to extreme poverty, inequality and climate change by 2030.

Our governments have a plan to save our planet…it’s our job to make sure they stick to it.

Every week we will focus on a different goal for discussion. You can find out more at the global goals website:

UN Ambassador’s update

Message from UN Ambassador’s committee:
We have created a survey monkey to gather views about the RRS Award we are involved in. We would really appreciate if you could take the time to complete this before 21st April as this will help us evaluate our progress towards Level 2. This is the link you will need: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/MGRYYTN
Thank you!

Dress Down For a Pound Day

Today we held a ‘Dress Down for a Pound’ day to raise money for the St Margaret’s for Malawi project. The total raised was £163, well done to everyone who took part and donated to this worthwhile cause (thank you to 2 of our UN Ambassador’s, Erin and Neave for counting all the coins!) We will present a cheque to the pupils and staff from St Margaret’s during Lent as they are going to lead an assembly for us to share their plans for the Malawi project.

Catholic Education Week 2017

Catholic Education Week 12th to 18th February 2017

THEME: “Developing as a community of faith and learning”

“What makes the Catholic school distinctive is its attempt to generate a community climate that is permeated by the Gospel spirit of freedom and love.”

This theme has been inspired by the Charter for Catholic schools and the work that school communities are currently embarking on as they “Develop in Faith”. All classes will be involved in lessons which focus on the above theme looking at different characteristics of the charter for Catholic Schools. There will also be a mass offered for the St Ninian’s family at 9.30am on Sunday 19th February in St Philip’s, all welcome.
