Mrs Wassell’s P3 Daily update 5.6.20

Good morning  girls and Happy Friday. I can’t believe we are at the end of another week already and you are all doing so well. I really hope you have had a good week even though the sunshine decided to go on a little holiday this week.

To start today I have included the link below for Peep and the Big Wide World: The Many Moons of Quack the duck.

http://peepandthebigwideworld.com/en/kids/videos/144/the-many-moons-of-quack-the-duck/

Can you learn anything about the moon from this little science programme? Who do you agree with?

As it is Friday we will spend today reviewing our learning and sharing our successes.

In Reading how did you get on with your reading for meaning. Were you able to find the answers and use information form the text to support your answers. Were there any questions that you had to use clues from the text to help you answer. Please use the answer sheet at the end of the pack to help you assess how you did.

In Writing please get a pink and green pencil or pen to help you identify your Success Criteria. Did you

  • Include paragraphs to separate your ideas
  • Use your senses to describe in more detail your walk
  • Did you use exciting openers to engage your reader?
  • If you did all of these can you please highlight all of your successes in pink and look for any areas you could improve by highlighting in green.
  • Remember to share your self- assessment of your writing on your One Note Profile.

Were you able to make equal groups using the 2 ,3, 4, 5 and even 10 times tables?

How did you do this? Did you make arrays or did you have another pictorial or concrete way to do this?  You can share this on your One Note.

Using your fist to five share on your one note profile how you feel about sharing equally and how well you are doing with your times tables knowledge.

Have a great weekend everyone and please have fun. Remember to log back on for your new learning grid for next week.

Stay safe everyone,

Mrs Wassell

Mrs Wassell’s P3 Daily Update 3.6.20

Good morning Primary 3!

How are you getting on with the tasks on your learning grid? Remember that you can visit Sumdog to work on your spelling and maths skills.  The Sumdog challenges that we have set will help you to build on the same skills as the tasks in your grid.

Literacy

I know that we have lots of Harry Potter fans in Primary 3.  Did you know that JK Rowling  released a new book last week??  It is called  ‘The Ickabog’.  She will be releasing a few chapters at a time, completely free and accessible online, over the next 7 weeks or so.

To read The Ickabog, click here.

J.K. Rowling is also looking for children to illustrate her new book!  She is running an  illustration competition for the book for children aged 7-12. If you win, your illustrations could be printed in the book in November!  There are details on The Ickabog website here.

Maths

Today we have some problems for you to solve.  Send us an email or let us know in the comments section how you get on.

Non-Screen Challenge

Lego Zip Line

You will need string or wool for this task.

Using Lego or a small toy, create a zip line to help it travel across your garden/room.  Can you make it go faster/slower?  Have you got anything around the house you could use to make your zip line super long?

I’d love to see pictures of your zip line!

Good Morning Primary 3. I hope you had a lovely day yesterday. How are you getting on with your weekly grid? I have posted the link below for easy access.

Core Grid Week 9 P3

Literacy

As part of your Literacy tasks this week you were asked to write a description of what you see, hear and smell when you were out a walk. Here is a short description of a walk  I had to a waterfall beside my house.  Hopefully  it will give you some ideas for your story.

I see bubbling, rippling water and fluffy sheep. I hear rushing, cascading water over the rocks. I smell beautiful, colourful flowers.

See if you can think of 3 or 4 things for each sense and remember to use capital letters, full stops, exciting adjectives, conjunctions and challenge yourself to try and write in paragraphs. Good Luck!

Numeracy

We are looking at multiplication and division this week. Why don’t you play this game outside. Multiplication hopscotch. Challenge yourself to a game of hopscotch, multiplication hopscotch that is. Draw hopscotch squares number them 2 to 24 then get someone to ask you a multiplication sum from the 2 times table and see if you can hop to the answer. You can then change the numbers for another times table. Get some fresh air while skip counting and hopping!

Spanish Art

Click on the link below to hear some Spanish words and see how to make a Picasso mask.

Non- Screen Task

Get Building! You could build a lego model or a tower out of playing cards or anything else you may have in the house. You could take a picture of this and post it on your one note profiles.

Have a lovely day.

Mrs Wassell

Mrs Wassell’s P3 Daily update 29.5.20

Good morning Primary 3!  We hope that you have had a great week of learning and managed to enjoy the beautiful weather too.  Can you believe that it is almost the end of May?

Below are some tasks to help you review your learning this week. Remember to keep trying if you meet a challenge.  As the song says ‘It’s going to be a fantastic day!’

Of course, it wouldn’t be Friday without Free Writing!

What makes Free Writing Friday special is that no-one  is allowed to correct your writing. Your spelling and  handwriting don’t matter on Free Writing Friday. What matters is that it’s FUN. Spend  up to 15 minutes writing  or  drawing. You can write stories, or notes from any exciting facts that you’ve found,  or drawings, or comic strips, or ideas for films or little pictures of characters. You can  write about books you’ve read or films that you’ve watched. This is YOUR writing.

Literacy

This week we would like you to self-assess your handwriting task.  Use a pink pencil/ crayon to highlight words that you are especially proud of and a green pencil/ crayon to highlight words that you would like to improve.  Remember to look out for:

  • finger spaces between words
  • writing on the line
  • tall and small letters
  • lead in lines and joins

Maths

This week we have been learning about division.  Use the answer sheet below to traffic light your work.

spring division by grouping ANSWERS

Non-Screen Task  Barefoot Safari

Some people believe that walking barefoot can help your well being.  Create a sensory walk over 4 or 5 different surfaces.   Outdoor surfaces could include long grass, bark, stones, leaf litter, fir cones or sticks.  Indoors surfaces could include a blanket, icy water, bubble wrap, shredded paper. Focus on how it feels!  Send us a picture via email if you’d like to share your safari.

Have a lovely weekend and enjoy the sunshine.

Mrs Wassell’s P3 Daily Update 28.5.20

Good Morning P3,

I hope you are all well on this beautiful sunny day. Make sure you are getting the opportunity to be outside for some of today and take plenty of breaks. Look at your learning grid and think creatively about your tasks. Try and take some outdoor. e.g. use nature to show your division facts.

How are you all getting on with your tasks? Remember if you have any questions then just pop them in the comments box and we will get back to you as soon as we can.

Learning Grid

Numeracy

If you have completed your numeracy tasks for this week you could try out some of these word problems. What strategy do you think you could use to work these out?

Outdoor learning

Try out some of  these ideas since we have such beautiful weather!

Have a great day in the sunshine!

Mrs Wassell’s P3 Daily Update 27.5.19

Good morning Primary 3!  How are you today?

Core Learning Grid

How are you getting on with your learning grid?  Please contact us on the blog or send us an email if you have any questions.  Have you done your  handwriting task?  Remember to try and keep all of your letters the same size and think about the lead in lines.  Have fun with the LetterJoin tasks.

Core Grid Week 8 P3

Literacy

Today’s extra literacy task is a talking task.  Try these tongue twisters – how fast can you say them?  Perhaps you could invent your own tongue twister.

Numeracy

For today’s extra numeracy task, we would like you to login to Sumdog and do the Week 8 challenge.  It will help you to build upon the division  skills that you are using  this week.  Look out for extra coins appearing on Sumdog if you do really well!

Non-screen Task

Do something to help you relax today.  Take time out for an activity you enjoy or take a moment to breathe and do some of our P3 yoga stretches that we have done in Cosmic Kids.

Have a lovely day.
