It’s been a ‘Bonnie’ wee week.

Happy New Year from primary 3/4!

We hope you all had a lovely, peaceful and restful holiday.

It has been a great start to 2016 in primary 3/4. We have been busy rehearsing for our show ‘Great Scot’s’ and can’t wait for everyone to see it. We have really been enjoying getting together with primary 3 and primary 4 to have a chance to watch their scenes and the story of their great Scot. You are all in for a great treat!

This week we have also been discussing our school values, which are important to us all. We focussed on our values of friendship and teamwork, being the best we can be; everyone has a voice and respect, honesty and equality. We thought about all the different ways that these things happen throughout our school. Next week we are going to use all of our fantastic ideas to create a poster for each value.

We hope you have a lovely weekend!

Great Scots

Happy New Year to you all. We hope you had a wonderful holiday and Santa was good to you. We all had a fantastic time.

This has been a very short but exciting week. We have come back to school all ready to rehearse our Burns supper and ‘Great Scots’ show. We think you are in for a treat. It’s super duper. We have been working together with P3 and P3/4 to make sure it is fantastic. We have all been working hard to learn our lines and the songs for the show.

This week we have also been revising the maths topics we learned in T2. We will continue with this over the next week and for homework. Luckily we have not forgotten all of our times tables that we have been working so hard on. This term we will be focusing on the 8 and 9 times tables. We think it is going to be challenging but we love a challenge in P4.

Have a great weekend and we can’t wait to perform our show for you on the 25th of January.

Ho Ho Ho.. Merry Christmas to you all from P4

This week has been extremely exciting but very busy.

On Tuesday we had our annual Christmas jumper and lunch day. Kalin had macaroni cheese and thought it was “delicious”. Chloe had super “tasty” turkey and the best gateau ever!! Harry was very sad that we was off on this day and missed his Christmas dinner but he had a superb time at his Christmas party on Wednesday.

At our Christmas party we showed off our amazing dance moves at our disco, we did traditional Scottish dancing, played games, had some food and we even had a visitor!! Santa Claus came to see us and left a special treat in our classroom.

Kerrigan “It was great fun!!”

Brandon “My favourite part was the games!”

Louise and Beth were our P4 winners. Great job girls!

For maths this week we looked at 3D shapes and created a 3D Christmas tree. They were fantastic. We decorated them and used glitter to make them sparkle. We also did some coordinates. Thomas thought it was quite difficult but he really enjoyed making his Christmas tree picture using coordinates.

On Thursday we had lots of special treats. Our first special treat was a FANTASTIC pantomime. It was called “Jack and the beanstalk”.

Isla “It was great!!”

Preston “My favourite part of the pantomime was when Squire Bogey got poked in the eye by Jack. It was so funny!!”

Then Mrs Wassell gave us an extra special treat. We have an afternoon at the movies to watch Arthur Christmas and we even had popcorn!!! Mmmmmm… It was a lovely afternoon.

To finish off a fantastic term we had our singalong Christmas morning! We sang ‘Nazareth’ from The Nativity! We were super duper!!!!

Well this just leaves us with one last thing to say..

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

Jay said “It was very funny when the giant baby wouldn’t open the door for her dad.”

Nasim said “I thought it was yuck when Gill and Jack kissed.”

Shannon said “I liked the part when Jack and Gill climbed up the beanstalk.”

Brooke said “I liked it when the giant’s eyes moved around at the letterbox.

Jay-P said “My favourite part was when the key fell down and Squire Boggy got poked in the eye.”

Rachel said “I liked it when Jack and Squire Boggy spoke about the Gruffalo and Jack said he was like Squire Boggy.”

We all wish you a very holy and Merry Christmas and we will see you in 2016.

‘This week has been fan dabby dozy!’ said Jan

Each week we have been working in our reading trios to explore lots of different types of texts. We call this our ‘Short Reads’ and this week our ‘Short Read Tournament’ has come to an end.

We ended our tournament with a ‘Picture It’. He said ‘We were picturing Santa’s new Sleigh’. Isabella said ‘We had to make sure that we included everything that was in the story.’

After adding up the scores the overall winning trio was the ‘The Scientists’ with 674 points. Well done to Adrin, Kacper and Brooke for all their hard work. You have worked very well with each other. There was also an extra prize for the team that had shown that they have been working on their team work. The group that won this prize were ‘The Astronauts’. Haseeb said ‘they have been working very hard in their trio to win this prize. Lukasz said ‘We have really improved from the first week’. Well done Caiden, Jay and Lukasz. Keep up the super team work.

We watched ‘Mog’s Christmas Calamity’ and we wrote a poem thinking about of our senses. Jacob said ‘seeing, hearing and smelling are our senses.’ In our poems we thought about what we seen in Mog’s Christmas Calamity.

Jay P wrote ‘A bad day for Mog and the Thomas’s’

Nasim wrote ‘Merry Christmas from the friendly neighbours’

What we heard:

Joseph wrote ‘Incredible loud cheers.’

Hannah wrote ‘horrible explosion’

What we could smell:

Ailie wrote ‘smoking turkey’

Aidan wrote ‘Ah smoke! So much smoke!’

A busy week!

Have a lovely weekend!

A magical week in P4

P4 have been very busy this week!! We started off the week by watching “Newsround”. We learned the great skill of note taking. We found this very tricky but we know with lots of practice we will find it easier. We then used our notes for our writing this week to write a news report.

This week we got to see the P1 and 2 nativity. Chloe thought it was very funny. Vanessa said “Mrs Wassell, it was fantastic!!!” We focused on the Nativity Story this week for RE. We made beautiful Nativity scene stain glass windows.

As we mentioned last week, Santa called us!! His sleigh has broken and he needed us to design and make a new sleigh for him! We had so much fun in our teams doing this! We hope you love our designs.

Grace “My favourite part was painting the sleigh!”

Charlie “It was FABULOUS!”

Ethan “I enjoyed working as part of a team!”

Here are some pictures of us working on our sleighs.

We look forward to showing your our finished sleighs next week on our blog. Mrs Wassell said “Those sleighs are AWESOME!” She thinks Santa will recruit us as his little helpers next year!

Have a lovely weekend everyone!

Primary 3/4 News!

This week has been wonderful!

To end our Earth, Sun and Moon topic we presented our topics to the class.

Evie created a Sun fact file. Shannon remembered that Evie asked the class lots of fabulous questions about the Sun. One of Evie’s questions was “How hot was the sun?” We couldn’t believe that it was 5,500 degrees.

Jacob said “I really liked Ailie’s topic because the PowerPoint was good and the reading was clear.”

Mark said “I liked Shannon’s because all of her aliens were called Mark.”

Jay-P said “I really like Caiden’s interesting facts about the moon.”

Haseeb said “I liked Aoife’s because it had lots of information about living and non-living things. Hannah said “I liked Aoife’s rocket it was very big and cool.

On Wednesday for ‘Scotland Week’ we had a visit from a theatre group to tell the story about the ‘History of Scotland’. All of primary 3/4 agreed that this was great. Adrin said “you had to use your imagination”. Ailie said “I really liked when he built the castle.” Aidan said “my favourite part was when Andrew seen Nessie”

Lukasz said “I really liked the speculators. They were cool!” Jan reminded us that you had to “engage your imagination to see through them”. Kacper said “the speculators took you back in time”

We all learned some great things about the history of our country,

Have a lovely weekend!

A lovely start to Advent for Primary 4

1 2 3 4 5 6

This week was a special week for primary 4 as we got to have our class mass on the first week of Advent. We sang beautifully and our readers read very clearly. Many of the parishoners commented on just how wonderful we are!!!

We also had an opportunity to look at our experiments from last week. We found that the bottom of the celery turned blue and so did the veins which meant that the water had been absorbed. Have a look at our pictures above.

We have been celebrating Scotland week. We learned all about St Andrew and were very lucky on Wednesday. We got to go and see Oor Scottish Story telling. It was fab!

It was great fun and really funny!!

This week in Numeracy we have been learning about division. We have learned a new way of doing division sums. Ask your child all about it!!

You will never believe what happened on Tuesday!!! Santa phoned Mrs Wassell!! His sleigh has broken down and he is very worried that he wont have it repaired by Christmas eve! He has asked us to help him design and make a new one for him. We have started designing them but we can’t wait to show you the final piece.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Mrs Wassell and P4

An Awesome week in P4!

We have had a great week of learning this week. We are coming to the end of our topic and we thought we would finish off with an exciting experiment. We wanted to see how plants absorb water to stay alive. We have put celery into a cup of food colouring to see what is going to happen. We made some predictions.

Ethan – I think the water level in the cup will go down.

Bea – I think the celery will turn blue.

Beth – I think water will come out of the celery when we cut it.

We are looking forward to Monday to find out what will happen.

We had a great day on Wednesday when travelling tuba came in to perform for us. They were Fantastic. Chloe thought it was “awesome” and Preston found it very “interesting”

tuba1 tuba2 tuba3 tuba4

Also over the last few weeks we have been focusing on “Anti-Bullying” week and friendships. We looked at some different scenario’s and thought about how the children might look and feel in each scenario. We worked in groups for our role on the wall activity.

Ask your child about their learning this week. Share what they enjoyed most on the blog.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Primary 3/4 News

We have had a great week!

On Wednesday we had ‘Travelling Tuba’ in to visit us and it was fantastic. They taught us all about the story of the tuba. We even had a chance to give some of the instruments a go. Please see our class story on dojo for some videos of Wednesday’s fun.

We received a very exciting delivery yesterday in our classroom. When we arrived back from music we found our classroom door lying open with leaves scattered on the ground. There was a balloon with a letter attached. Joseph carefully opened the letter and read this out to the class. It was from the man on the Moon and his name was Roger. He told us about life on the Moon and that he had just received a telescope from a little girl on Earth. So we decided to write a letter back. We were working on asking good questions in our letter. Here are some of our questions we asked Roger.

Jan asked “Why would you not build a city on the moon and live with the aliens?”

Ailie asked “How were you born?”

Adrin asked “How big is the moon?”

Rachel asked “How do you breath?”

Shannon asked “What do you do on the moon?”

Lukasz asked “Why don’t you build a space rocket and come to Earth?”

Have a lovely weekend!
