What a super week we have had for health week. Every day we have had the chance to learn new skills to develop our fitness.
Please have a look at some of our highlights:
We hope you have a lovely long weekend!

This week we have been making the most of the lovely warm weather and taking as much of our learning outside as possible.
We have been out in the garden using our fractions knowledge to make up our own fractions games. This was lots of fun and got us running around while challenging each other with different questions.
In PE we were developing our running skills with Miss Wison and Miss Naismith.
“First we had to practice how to start a race. You could choose either a sprint start or a crouch start” said Jacob
Once we had plenty of practice we went outside to race each other on the field. This was exciting because the field has now been painted with the track lines.
We then competed against each other to win house points for sports day. The children below all won points which go towards sports day.

A short but sweet week in primary 3/4.
This week we are going to tell you all about our story writing. We had a very creative time writing imaginary stories. It was a little bit different this week because we could write about whatever we wanted to.
Mrs Kerr did have a little bit of a say by adding one target however the rest we did ourselves. This year we have been developing our writing skills and on Wednesday we managed to work in groups to create our own success criteria for our story. Mrs Kerr was very proud of this as we have worked hard to achieve this target.
Here is a little bit about our stories. I bet you would love to read them…
“My story was about me being inside a Pokémon game and it was the best adventure EVER” said Jay.
“My story was about being stuck in Jurassic Park world and it was awesome.” said Joshua.
“My story was an adventure with my friend and we went to candyland. I wish it was real life.” said Brooke
“In my story I was stuck in Mindcraft and on an adventure with Stampy Long Nose. It was so awesome!” said Joseph.
“I climbed up a volcano and at the top I met a dinosaur and he helped me get back down.” said Haseeb.
“I got sucked into a land with fairies, mermaids and princesses and we had to defeat a wicked witch. It was a marvellous adventure.” said Hannah.
Well done everybody you all wrote a very exciting story with an imaginative adventure.
Have a lovely weekend Primary 3/4 and Mrs Kerr.
“This week was super” said Adrin 🙂
On Wednesday with Mr Hunter in our outdoor learning we were creating an Olympic torch using junk modelling and sticks from outside.
“We had to use a cup and pierce a hole in the bottom with the stick. Then we had to put the stick in the cup and wrap it with tinfoil and put tissue paper in the cup.” said Ailie.
“The tissue paper was for the fake fire.” said Jay-P
“I enjoyed and it was really fun being creative.” said Shannon
“I put a stick at the bottom and then stuck another stick so that it would be a big torch.” said Hannah
“We also had a mini relay race with our torches. We had to jog instead of running in case our torch broke.” said Haseeb
“We hope you have a nice long weekend.” Said Aoife

“This week we started our new maths topic ‘fractions’ and it was very interesting” said Rachel.
“The denominator splits things into equal parts” said Evie
“The denominator is the number underneath the numerator.” said Ailie.
“We learned that the top number of a fraction is called the numerator” said Gaby.
“We learned about halves, quarters, thirds. We even spoke about eighths.” Said Jacob
“We worked in teams to split different shapes up into equal parts.” said Shannon.
“The denominator needs to make sure that it splits shapes and numbers into EQUAL parts.” said Kacper.
“We learned that the numerator tells us how many parts are coloured in a fraction.” Said Hannah and Jay.
Next week we will be moving on to how to find out a 1/2 and ¼ of a number.
Mrs Kerr was even pretending to be a robot denominator and numerator. “I will be back next week.” said Mrs Kerr.
Well done to Jan who won this month’s award at our achievements assembly.
Big congratulations to all the primary 4 children who made their Confirmation last Sunday.
Have a lovely weekend!

This week was creativity week and we have really enjoyed exploring our creativity on our own and working in groups.
We think creativity means:
On Wednesday we all had a creativity challenge to think of a game or a sport. Then we chose to work with a partner or in a group to join with. In those groups we invented a brand new game. “This was amazing!” said Lukasz. Below are some of the games that we came up with.
“I enjoyed Hannah’s idea of using the game corners in our new game. I also enjoyed it because we mixed different games together to make it more exciting.” said Shannon.
“I enjoyed the game because I like a dodge ball and basketball and mixing them together makes it out of this world.” Said Mark.
“Our game was like basketball, dodge ball and rock, paper, scissors. In the game you play basketball and try to hit someone, when you hit someone you have to do rock, paper, scissors and the loser gets to take a shot of scoring a basket. You win a point if your score a goal.” Said Brooke.
“In this game there are 2 teams. One team starts by passing the ball to their partner if they don’t pass then the other team get the ball.” Said Haseeb
“Our game was fantastic. It included rounders and dodgeball. The defenders had to stop the opponents from getting passed them. They had to try to grab the ball.”
Said Isabella and Jay-P
“In this game you have 2 people that hold the rugby ball. They throw the ball without it hitting the ground; if it hits the ground then they go in to prison.” Said Charlie.
Creativity is important because:
Have a lovely weekend!

We will be back next week 🙂
It has been a busy second last week of term.
This week we were learning about how much sugar is in different drinks. It was very interesting to find out this information and we were very shocked to find out how much sugar there was.
First we were estimating how much sugar was in Irn Bru, Ribena, Chocolate Milkshake and water.
Once we had finished at this station we moved on to the research station to find out the exact amount of teaspoons in each drink.
Then we had a chance to spoon each teaspoon into a plastic cup. This allowed us to see exactly how much we would be drinking.
Evie said “I was amazed at how much sugar was in chocolate milkshake.”
Ailie said “This has made me think for the future.”
Have a look at some of our pictures to see our results.
We are so excited to come in to our class next week as it will decorated. It is looking very bare at the moment.
We hope you have a lovely weekend!

“This money is really important for lots of people all over the world to give them food, clothing, villages and houses.” Said Jan
“Pj day was fun because we got to wear our jammies.” Said Rachel
“Pyjama day was amazing because we got to go to school in our jammies. You might go to sleep.” Said Lukasz
Joseph said “It feels weird wearing your jammies and slippers.”
Primary 3/4 all agrees that they feel soooooooo comfortable and relaxed wearing their pyjamas to school. They wish they could do this every day.

“Our writing this week has been very successful because everyone done really well.” Said Evie
“We got to share our comments about St Ninian’s and it sounded great.” Said Ailie
“Well done to every child for producing a fantastic persuasive poster this week. It was super to see that everyone was prepared with a super comment and very enthusiastic about their own school. Aoife kindly went around each child to take a picture of their poster to share on our blog. Have a look at some examples of our successful work so far. Well done primary 3/4! Mrs Kerr J

This week was great fun! We really enjoyed world book day.
“I loved it” said Brooke
“I loved world book day because you got to be your favourite character in your favourite book.” said Ailie
Yesterday we read a book called the Snorgh and the Sailer. This was about a lonely Snorgh who had no imagination until he met a sailor rabbit. The rabbit took the Snorgh on different adventures and the Snorgh had so much fun that he wanted to start to use his imagination.
A special letter fell from the middle of the book while we were reading. Isabella reminded us that the letter was asking if we could design a boat to help the Snorgh catch the sailor.
“My boat could go underground and it had GPS tracker that could find the sailor” said Charlie.
“We had a seat which had buttons on the front which helped him go as fast as he wanted because there were two boosters on the back.” said Evie.
“My boat had three boosters and two seats on the back. It had an invisible screen which had a tracking device on it.” Said Caiden
Mines had a safe to keep his soup warm and it was a two layer boat which could move up and down. Said Jay P
“Mines had an auto steering wheel and auto pilot made the boat go even faster. “Said Adrin
“I liked world book day because I liked dressing up as Ariel. I enjoyed making the boat for the Snorgh.”Said Shannon
Mark said “I thought that Mrs Kerr was creepy and evil when she came out dressed as Mrs Twit.”
“I liked world book day because I got to dress as Ellie’s magical bakery. It was great fun.” Said Aoife
Just a wee note to say thank you to everyone that made it along to our class mass yesterday. I’m sure you will agree that it was a lovely service.
Have a great weekend and a lovely rest.

“The daily mile is fun because it get’s us active and helps us concentrate” said Hannah.
“The daily mile is a pain to my legs but I like it.” said Jan.
“I like the daily mile because it gives you more energy” said Shannon.
“I get tired doing the daily mile and it helps me sleep at night.” said Caiden
“I challenged myself and I ran two miles instead of one.” said Haseeb.
“Our assembly went very well today because we entertained the rest of the school.” said Jay.
“It was a good start to the day.” said Joseph.
