Home Learning Grid

Good morning! How are you getting on with your reading? Have you been reading for enjoyment at home? I like to relax with a book too.

Literacy

Let’s link listening and our topic work today! Here is a song to listen and dance to about what bones are connected.

Numeracy

Play a game of Guess My Number. Write down numbers 1-20 or 1-30. You can choose! Choose any number on the number line and keep it SECRET! Your partner is going to ask you maths questions to try to guess what the number is! You are only allowed to answer yes or no.

For example, is it 2+13?

If it is NOT 15 – Score 15 out!

Good luck!

Have a lovely day,

Mrs Currie

Good morning everyone,

Well done everyone for your brilliant efforts this week with your learning!

Self-Assessment

This week we will return to focus on smiley faces to assess our learning. Draw one of these faces next to each of your pieces of work:

There has been lots of fabulous work going on with our Global Goals and RRS. Please remember to send your RRS work to Mrs Conway. brogan.conway@westlothian.org.uk

Literacy

Take a look at the success criteria and see if your writing has met each of them.

Numeracy

Try to think back to completing your numeracy challenge this week and answer these yes/no questions.

  1. Did you get at least 10 different ways to make 8? If you haven’t, why not look at your work and try to think of another way to make 8.
  2. Did you try to find a really interesting way to make 8?
  3. Did you check over your answers to make sure they were accurate? Try to solve your calculations to make sure they all make 8.

Did you use any of the same ways as I did?

3 + 5 = 8        7 + 1 = 8       15 – 7 = 8           20 – 12 = 8         2 x 4 = 8

Area

  1. 3 square units
  2. 10 square units
  3. 6 square units
  4. 4 square units

Good morning everyone!

We are going to use the TAG process to evaluate our work today.  You will need an adult to be your TAG partner.  Follow this process.

Literacy

Here are some pictures using the igh sound pattern, can you spell them?

Check if you put the correct sound with each picture.

We are all so pleased for the positive response to yesterdays Sway presentation.  We hope to post another next Wednesday.

Literacy

Our focus this week has been all about rhyming words.

Match up the pictures to make rhyming pairs.  You can choose whether you just want to say the matching words to a partner, or you can draw the matching pictures in your jotter.

Numeracy

This week we were trying number splats for our Number talks.

Here is another Number Splat and I will talk you through how I got my answer.

If you would like a challenge here is a new number splat that uses numbers higher than 10.

Have a lovely day,

Mrs Currie

How are you getting on with your Sumdog Spelling challenge?

Please note: There is also a sumdog number challenge for Maths which has been set for the P1 children in our class, you do not have to do this one (but if you do want to complete a number challenge click on the challenge for the P1s and I have set  Sumdog to choose relevant skills for your stage).

Literacy

Let’s enjoy some Scots language today.

Watch and listen to ‘Fireworks aff the Castle’ by Matthew Fitt.

There are three videos on this link. I would recommend the second one because some of the words from the story pop up on your screen.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/z74n6v4/articles/zm6hxyc

What Scots words were in the story? Try saying them yourself!

Mathematics

Today let’s use our hand span as a unit of measurement. Take a look at the picture to show you what your hand span is. Now go and measure your bed using your hand span. An example is my bed is equal to 12 hand spans long.

Have a lovely day everyone,

Mrs Currie
