P6/7 blog

On Monday we made a display about Kensuke’s kingdom which is our class novel. We did the Matilda challenge if you want to see it go on the St Ninian’s twitter page. On Tuesday the P6’s did symmetry and we also did R.E and we were looking at what the Priest wears on certain times of the year. On Wednesday we had jazz with Mike,  Cole and Matt made a song about rice krispies. On Thursday we had John the janny’s leaving assembly. On Friday Mrs Roy came back and we talked to everyone about what they like and what they don’t like.

Pupil voice:

Bea-We made Kensuke’s Kingdom pictures of a wave and a sunset with a boat. We also wrote arguments about whether zoos should be banned.

Caiden-Today we discussed Ready, Respectful, Safe and made posters for our charter.

Ethan – We had Mike for Jazz.

Cole – On Wednesday we introduced tackling in rugby.

Lorena – On Friday Mrs Roy came back and we all spent time getting to know one another which I really enjoyed.

It was lovely to return to work today to such a wonderful class of committed, enthusiastic and kind pupils. They have made my return smooth and kept me updated on all that has being going on. I am looking forward to working with each and everyone of them throughout P6/7 and I am sure we will have lots of learning, laughter and fun!! Just a final word to thank the children, parents and staff for their support for the last 5 weeks, it has been greatly appreciated. Mrs Roy xx

Day 2 of Ford Castle

Evening everyone, we’ve had an eventful day today full of activities.

The day started with a hearty breakfast which was needed after an early Rise, especially in Mrs Roy’s dorm!!!!

Today we had 6 daytime activities – initiative, Jacobs ladder, high all aboard, leap of faith, potions and crate stacks.

Records were set, fears were faced and overcome and we all made it safely back for lunch, dinner and tuck.

We decided to treat the kids this afternoon to a water balloon soaking to cool them all down in the glorious sunshine and heat!! The staff won!!!!

Tonight we are doing an eggcellent challenge involving teamwork, smelly shoes, cardboard, chanting and lots more. Then we are heading to the top of the castle to try out our creations!!

Then it’s off to our dorms for some well earned rest and hopefully some sleep!!!

Day 1 at Ford Castle

Well, where do I begin…

We arrived at lunchtime and were amazed when we first saw our home for the week, a beautiful castle set in the countryside. The sun was splitting the skies and not a cloud to be seen.

We split into our 4 dorms and bagsied our beds for the stay, I think Mr Turner drew the short straw there although Mrs Gardner had a few mishaps too!!!

After a picnic outdoors for lunch we set off in our 3 teams for the afternoon activities – zip wire, assault course and archery. Great fun was had and many fears conquered. We returned for dinner full of laughter and some of us looked rather muddy!! Sorry mums and dads!!

After dinner we had evening entertainment which was the Holy Grail challenge and then got hot chocolate to end the night.

Then we returned to our dorms for some chillaxing and more laughter!! Lights went out and after a while there was quiet in Castle Tower.

We are not looking forward to the 7am wakeup call!!!

More updates to follow tomorrow and photographs once we’ve sorted them all out.

Good morning everyone! Another snow day beckons and we have to chat via technology today. Here are today’s tasks to keep you busy:

Dojo reflections/literacy: I would like you to log onto your dojo profiles and write your weekly reflection from home. I’d love to hear about what you have all been doing this week and about any of the snow day tasks you have tried.

Image result for world book day

Happy World Book day everyone – this year’s theme is ‘Share a story’, an ideal theme for a snow day when we are all at home. I’d love to hear who you shared a story with today.

I’ve also attached a Reflective Reading task for today linked to World Book Day. Task-Map-World-Book-Day-Article-and-Blog Task-Map-Text-For-World-Book-Day-Text-1-Blog Task-Map-Text-For-World-Book-Day-Text-2-Bookseller-Art

There is also a STEM challenge for the whole school to build a snow structure outdoors and then take a photo of you reading your book inside your structure. Mrs Purdie’s mum is winning the challenge so far! Check out Twitter and Facebook to see photos.

The creativity challenge is to paint an egg and make it look like your favourite book character. Post your efforts on your dojo profile or send them via email,Twitter or facebook.

In numeracy I have attached some themed challenges, try out the World Book Day and Fairtrade Challenges.KS2_Topical_Maths_Problems

Don’t forget to get out and about and do your daily mile in the snow, I’m just getting ready to go out and do mine, wish me luck as I’ll need to dig myself out first!!!

P6/7 Snow Day

Hi everyone!

Hope you are all staying safe and warm on this snowy day. I have been keeping in contact with you all via Classdojo and keeping an eye out for any tasks you have completed so far.

Here are some extra activities which you might enjoy:

Literacy/Technology: write a blog post detailing your ‘Snow Day’ off school, include ambitious vocabulary and any of our BOOST words we’ve learned so far.

Numeracy: https://nrich.maths.org/6499

Use this link to play Countdown and try to see if you can beat the grown-ups!! Let me know your solutions and post them on the blog/dojo or email them to me.

Art: Go for a walk and look around, what do you see, recreate this image in a piece of artwork using any material of your choice. Rachel Mc has already had a go at making a snowflake. The link is on our Winter Ready class page.

Daily Mile: Get outdoors and do your daily mile in the snow. I managed 2.5 miles this morning with my 2 girls. Take a selfie and send it to me.

Drama/Music: use your script and MP3 sound files on your email to practise for the show as we were due to have a rehearsal today, make or gather any props you need.

Hopefully I’ll see you all tomorrow!

Mrs Roy
