Daily update – 27th March

Good morning everyone,

We have made it to Friday! What a busy week it has been for everyone and it’s great to see that most of you are now in the swing of learning from home via the blog or TEAMs.

Today we would like everyone (adults too) to join in with Funky Friday, 31 minutes of indoor or outdoor fun, dancing and play at 10.30am. This is always a huge success at St Ninian’s as we all come together at the end of the week.

Here is the playlist our pupils made for this but we would love to hear your musical requests too and we can add it to next week.

Have a great weekend everyone and we will speak to you all on Monday! Remember many of our staff team will be in school on Monday so may not be able to be so responsive on the blog or teams.

Also remember not to add your child’s name when posting on twitter to stay safe online.

Stay safe

Mrs Roy and Mrs Smith

Daily update – 26/3/20

Good morning everyone,

Hope you are all well and supporting one another at home. We can’t keep up with all the amazing learning that has been going on this week so far, fantastic effort everyone!

We have now collated a list of additional activities that can be used at anytime during this school closure. Please make sure that you are balancing learning and family time. Remember one of our school priorities this year has been about the importance of play, both indoors and outdoors so we are keen for everyone to continue this priority at home.

Additional online learning resources

Remember that we are all here for you during this difficult time, stay safe everyone, miss you all!

Daily check in

Good morning everyone,

We hope you are all well and managing to work from home. It has been busy here at St Ninian’s PS as we are opening for children whose parents are key workers and providing free school meals to those who need it.

It has been great to hear about how your learning is going at home via the blog, Teams and Twitter. We are all very proud of you, it is great to see how you are all showing resilience and supporting one another in your classes and families.

Remember to take time to have fun as a family and make special memories.

Mrs Smith and I will be posting daily and your teachers are all very busy responding to your emails and Teams files.

Have a good day everyone, and we will keep in contact!

Mrs Smith and Mrs Roy

Participatory Budgeting Update

The Participatory Budgeting committee have been working hard on buying fun outdoor equipment for playtime and outdoor learning. Our budget was £1800 and we came in just under budget.

We bought:

  • A sandpit
  • An outdoor playhouse
  • An activity table
  • Outdoor waterproof mats
  • 2x mini football goals
  • Three large chalkboards
  • Outdoor tray with a stand and cover
  • 2x basketball nets
  • 2x large football goals

We think we have been very successful with the equipment we bought and we think these items will be very beneficial to our pupils at St Ninians.

Wee Box Appeal

St Ninian’s Primary School have decided to participate in the Wee Box appeal to help the less fortunate and those surrounded by poverty. Along with SCIAF we can help these poor people get back on their feet. With small donations we will be able to double the amount of money raised meaning even a single pound will be doubled by the help of the UK gift aid scheme. With your help we can make a difference in poor societies.

Any wee boxes should be returned by the 24th of April at the latest, this will allow us to count your donations and send them to SCIAF.

Many thanks,

Jan & Adrin, Pupil Leadership Committee

P3/4 weekly news

Literacy Learning

In writing we wrote an exposition about Fun 31. We had to include time and sequence words, a title and sensing verbs.

Our class novel is ‘I was there…Titanic’ and we also have ‘The Attack of the Demon Dinner Ladies’.

Numeracy/Maths Learning

We have been working on our 3 and 4 times tables using tower sums.

STEM Learning

We made a waterproof boat in teams using waterproof items and materials, eg. foil.

We also made cabins for the Titanic using junk.

In Science we did an iceberg experiment.

We used QR codes to research the Titanic.

Home learning

Why don’t you try to make a boat as a family and try to see if it floats? Take some photos and put them on your WOW wall.

Keep working on times tables at home whenever you can using this link for games.

P2 Weekly News

Primary 2 Blog

Overview

This week we have been focusing a lot on our nativity. We are so excited for our shows next week.

We have started focusing on word problems in numeracy and finished off our Information Reports in writing.

In Maths we have been continuing to learn about time – o’clock, half past using analogue and digital. We played some time challenge games where we had to record the time in 3 different ways – Joshua, Connor and Liam were our worthy winners!!

In Spanish we have been learning the days of the week and next week we will move onto the months of the year.

Parental Involvement

P2 chose to share our song that helps us count in 5s. Here it is:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EemjeA2Djjw

Ask your child to explain what each numbers ends with when we count in 5s.

Sing along to our Spanish song:

Pupil voice

Luke – We have been practising lots for our nativity.

Roma – We did our one minute talks. I spoke about a teacher’s job.

Scott – I liked Scottish dancing. We were spinning around.

Anna – We had our dress rehearsal for nativity. It went well.

Amelia – Writing this week was all about Winter.

Rojin – We learned it’s not just an o and an o that make the ‘oo’ sound. It’s an e and a w too. They make ‘ew’.

Cordelle – We had help from Mrs Lydon to do our writing. That was fun.

Shea – We met Rosie and George. They are our class elves.

Pati – We made sparkly posters for our edible snowmen.

SOCKtober

A message from The School Bank

Have you heard of SOCKtober? Well this is our spin on SOCKtober… virtually all of the uniform packs we provide to our local children who need a helping hand with the cost of the school day include brand new socks and/or brand new tights. This October we would like to ask if you could donate a pack of Socks or Tights to help us with our packs over the coming weeks. We need:
1. Socks size infant 9 right up to adult size 12 in preferably grey or black but any colour is fine.
2. Tights age 5-12 years (grey or black) and tights age 12-18 years or ladies size small/medium/large (black only) would be wonderful.

We appreciate all donations  – we are delighted with any support you can give us during our SOCKtober campaign.

Socks can be handed into St Ninian’s school office and then will be collected by a member of The School Bank Team.

Thank you 😍😍😍😍😍
