Bonnie Scotland!

We have enjoyed learning about Scotland and Scottish Culture this week in P1D. We made our very own tartan, listened to, learned about bagpipes and pretended we had our own pipe band and learned some scots language.

We had another unexpected visitor this week! We came in to school on Thursday to find a Christmas tree AND Elf shoes!! We think he was in a rush and left his shoes behind by accident. We wrote stories about what we though he would do on his day off. Our imaginative ideas were great. Marcus thought he would have a rest to recharge his batteries, Zoe thought he would go bowling with his friends and Chloe thought he would go to a disco and dance to Christmas music. We decided it would be a good idea to set up a camera again to see if we could find out who the shoes belonged to. We will post the video evidence on the school Facebook page!

In Maths we have been doing lots of work using mathematical language, more than, less than or equal to. We loved using Ally the Alligators mouth to help us learn about the more than and less than signs.

We are very excited for next week as it is Nativity week! We can’t wait!!

Have a great weekend, Miss Diamond

Unexpected visitor in P1D!

An exciting week in P1D! We have been learning new sounds, learning about more/less than in maths, practising for our Nativity as well as having the An exciting week in P1D! We have been learning new sounds, learning about more/less than in maths, practising for our Nativity as well as having the excitement of finding an egg in our classroom on Thursday!

This has caused great excitement in our class and we thought we should share it with you. We could not work out who the egg belonged to or why they left it,  so we decided to set up a camera to try and find out. You will never believe your eyes when you see what we discovered!

We had another great experience this week from ‘Travelling by Tuba’ where we learned about lots of different instruments. Some of us were lucky enough to get chosen to participate in the show.

As part of our science topic, we have been learning all about forces. We focussed on forces that make toys move! We had great fun! Why not ask us what we found out!

We hope you have enjoyed looking at our learning. Have a great weekend, Miss Diamond.

Bear Love!

bear love

The Community Links and Charity Committee decided they would like to support Bear Love this Christmas. This is an organisation that is collecting teddy bears/ soft toys for the refugee children to brighten up their Christmas. We are hoping that you would agree that this is a great cause. We are asking, now that the Christmas clear outs are well underway, if you could donate a teddy bear/ soft toy that is in good condition and that will be a real comfort to a child in need. We ask that the toys are handed in to Miss Diamond by Friday 11th December.

Below is a link to the facebook page if you wish to have a little look.

Thank you for your continued support,

Miss Diamond, Mrs Gardner  and the Community Links/ Charity Committee.

Thank you and farewell to Miss Corbett!

We have learned lots and had great fun in P1D this week. We have been super mathematicians and loved learning about subtraction! We really enjoy playing the role of the teacher when we are practising our Learn It’s!

We have been looking at feelings and emotions with Miss Corbett and what might affect how we feel. We read the story ‘A Big Bag of Worries’ . We  know that it helps to share our worries and that it’s ok to sometimes feel that way. We put all of the worries in a balloon and eventually, it got so full, that it exploded! We don’t want that to happen to us so we identified people we could talk to if we were feeling worried or upset about something. Can you work out how we are feeling in these pictures?

As part of our topic, we have been learning about toys from the past. One of the toys we liked the look of was Marbles. We decided to make our very own set using clay! They are still a work in progress but what do you think so far? We had to make sure they were round so that they would roll. Look at the concentration!

Finally, we would like to say a big Thank You and Farewell to Miss Corbett (student teacher) who has been working with us for the past 4 weeks. She really has made learning fun! Good Luck for the future Miss Corbett.

Have a great weekend, Miss Diamond :).

Exciting times in P1D!

We have had lots of fun in P1D this week! As most of you will already know, we had a disaster when we came in to school on Thursday! EVERYTHING in our classroom had been turned upside down! We decided to use our imaginations and wrote a story about who/ what caused all the commotion! What/ who do you think was to blame?

We are really enjoying our new topic and a couple of our favourite activities this week have been using chalk to write our names and playing old fashioned playground games! Do you recognise any of the games?

We have been busy in maths learning about subtraction but loved using the head bands to help learn our ‘learn it’s’! We had to find our trios!

Have a good weekend, Miss Diamond and Miss Corbett.
