P5D Learning this week!

Miss Diamond – Primary 5D missed you a lot this week!  We hope that you had fun at school camp with P7 but are looking forward to seeing us all on Monday again!

We have worked hard with Mrs Scott and Mrs Smith and hope you are very proud of all the learning we have achieved in your absence!   We loved the Judo tasters this week and creating our group landscape collages using natural resources.  In Maths we have been working on measure and enjoyed working with partners to measure items in centimetres before converting them into metres and centimetres.  We have been learning about present tense verbs and exploring the Eatwell plate by planning healthy meal selections.  Please see our comments below:

Ola – it’s not good to eat a lot of sugary things. You need to eat 33% of fruit and veg and 33% of bread, pasta, rice etc.

Rhia – is, are, has, have are present tense verbs. I used them in my description.

Maliha – we worked in partners on food diaries. I did Angel’s one and she had to eat more dairy and bread.

Aaron – I have been really focused 99% of this week. I liked learning about the Eatwell plate. I used some good words in my description of a smartboard.

Emily – I enjoyed doing the research task because it was good being able to make meals up.

Angel – I loved doing the Healthiest Menu research task because it was fun working with a partner to go onto the different supermarket websites.

Kasia –  I liked doing Measure and I learned that 6cm 4mm is the same as 64mm. I feel more confident about it all now.

Ethan – I liked reading Simon The Bully and looking for the nouns.

Huda – In writing I liked describing the smartboard because it was easy to look at it and feel it for ideas.

Michelle – I liked Maths and now I am getting better at measuring in mm.

Robbie – I liked measuring using a ruler.

Sophie R – This week I enjoyed doing writing on the netbook and I wrote a description of a smartboard.

Andrew – I liked writing because the smartboard was fun to describe.

P6 enjoy Halloween Week

In primary 6 we have been making our pupil profiles for glow.  This will let us share our successes in and out of school.  We have also been doing Mexican art called Dia Los Muerdos  or Day of the Dead where we drew a picture of someone who has died in our family or our pets  We have been doing Halloween Report writing about what we do for Halloween.  This involved sharing some of our Halloween traditions such as Dressing up and Jack O Lanterns,  Did you know that Jack O lanterns were originally used to scare of bad spirits from peoples homes?

In Maths we are continuing to develop our Number Talks strategies and we are all keen to share our strategies with each other.  We have been working on Subtraction of 3 Digit Numbers.

A big group of us went to the school Halloween party on Tuesday night –  it was great fun.  Vanessa was even dressed up as an inflatable dinosaur!

Outdoor Learning week in P5

Toni –  We enjoyed using the trundle wheel outside to measure the grass to the fence line.

Cole –  During our drama lesson outside we built an imaginary house.  It was great fun.

Paige and Rachel – Mrs Purdie shared with us in the Assembly how to be safe around stray dogs that do not have their owners.  We should remain calm and keep walking.

Rebecca – I enjoyed learning a new hymn – peace is flowing like a river with Mrs Smith on Friday.  I especially liked doing the actions.

Beth and Lorena –  In PE we used metre sticks to measure out 50 metres and then we ran this distance in groups trying to improve our time.

Joseph –  I was delighted to share with the class that I had been successful in getting to the next round of the Radio 2 500 words competition.

Brandon – I enjoyed coming back to school again to see all my friends again although it is tough to get up!

Vanessa –  I am excited about our new class topic –  the human body.   I am really interested in learning about the human body as I would like to have a job looking after people and keeping them well in the future.

Bea –  I enjoyed having Mrs Smith teaching us on Friday.
