A Cracking Time in P2M

This week was Scottish week and we have enjoyed learning some new Scottish things this week. We explored some of the Scots language by listening to the Gruffalo story read in Scots. We then had Paula, who is Spanish read us the Gruffalo in Spanish which we thought it was very funny.

Here is a link for the Gruffalo in Scots:

We have also started our new number topic of subtraction. We played some subtraction bowling to help us remember the different vocabulary that is used in subtraction work. It was lots of fun.

We have continued with our North Pole topic and as part of Scotland week we decided to compare the North Pole to Livingston. In our reading routes groups we completed a cloze procedure about these differences. In a pair we then made posters detailing the differences in weather, clothes, housing, animals, food and travel between the two places. Have a look at our posters.

We have been enjoying our CLIC sessions this week and working on adding in 10’s. Here is a picture of during one of our active show me sessions.

On Thursday we had another egg delivered to our classroom and this time a note was left with it. We have put the egg in water just like the letter told us to and it is starting to crack so we think that something is going to hatch from it. We wrote stories about this and Miss Meechan thought everyone’s story was fantastic!    WP_20151204_08_35_58_Pro WP_20151204_08_36_09_Pro

  1. Fantastico! A Scottish story and a Spanish story. Which story did you prefer? Which one did you understand best?
It’s great to read about all the super learning experiences you’ve had this week. I am really looking forward to your Nativity performance next week.

  2. We had a class vote and 5 people liked the Scots story the best and 10 people liked the Spanish story the best. We agreed that we understood the Scots story the best and Jack said “because it’s a wee bit like English.”
We are all looking forward you showing you our nativity. Katie said she wants to show you “our singing”. Sophie YM wants to show you our “big smiles on our faces”. Emily wants to show you “how hard we’ve been working.”

  3. Sophie has been so animated in telling her WHOLE family about the egg! She is looking forward to performing in the Nativity this week.
