Primary 6/7 Weekly News

This week in literacy primary 6/7 we completed our writing assessment. We had three different options for questions to write our exposition about. They were: Should children wear school uniform; Is climate change caused by humans and Should children get outdoor play during school ours? We also focused on Time and Sequence words and using conjunctions.

In Numeracy we have been learning about fractions and percentages. We have also had a focus on word problems.
We had a look at budgeting and calculating the best value for money. We were mostly focusing on: 10%,20%,30%,40% and 50% off. We did the Daily Rigour in pairs and trios today, solving 4 separate word problems.

In art this week we were thinking about an art piece made by a street artist named Banksy. The piece we were looking at was a rat paparazzi.

Santa’s Grotto/Christmas Fair

We decorated Santa’s Grotto for the school Christmas Fair. First we made 3D snowflakes out of paper and hung them up around the Grotto. We re-designed the fireplace to look better, then we made stockings to hang from the fireplace. We also printed out colouring pages for the younger children to colour whilst they were waiting. some of them were entered into the drawing competition, the winners will be announced on Monday. Everyone did a great job!
