P2 Weekly Update

We cannot believe it, but next week is our dress rehearsal on Thursday for our Nativity show.  If you have not brought in your narrators outfit (Black trousers/leggings and a white top) please have into school in a labelled carrier bag by Wednesday.

This week in class we have focused on the spelling pattern -ck at the end of words.  We noticed that the vowel in the middle of the words were single and short;

chick       flick       sock       clock          crack         black

Next week we will look at what happens if there is a long vowel in the middle of a word with the hard k sound at the end.

In Numeracy we have finished off looking at subtraction and addition.  Next week we will focus on working with money (we might even have to use our adding and subtracting skills to help us use our money too!).  The coins that we are using will be 1p, 2p 5p, 10p and 20p.

Our Christmas Fayre this week was a huge success and the fun does not stop here!  Next week there will be a Christmas game that will coast 50p a go, the children have to choose a box and then a winning box will be drawn and they can win a prize.

In Our Community topic this week we have learned all about Fire Fighters and the important jobs they do in our Community;

Micah – when someone is in a room and there is a fire the fire fighters will come and the people that are stuck will be taken out of the window.

Christopher – when there is a fire they put it out.

Kayla – they take you out of a car if you have crash.

Oliver – to help people or animals when they are stuck up in high places.

It has been wonderful listening to all the book reports this week.  The children have had their feedback put on their one note profile.  Well done everyone.

Have a lovely weekend,

Mrs Currie
