Winter Ready Activities

Maths

  • Temperature Challenge – Using either a thermometer or a relevant website find out the temperature of Scotland today. Using appropriate methods find out the temperature of another country in the world and compare the temperatures.  Complete a short report on your findings, you may want to draw a graph or a chart to show your comparisons.
  • Be The Teacher – choose an area of Maths that you are very confident in. Create a worksheet on your chosen Maths topic.  Don’t forget to make an answer sheet too.  Think about how you can make your worksheet interesting and motivating for those who will complete it.
  • Don’t forget you can log onto Sumdog.

Literacy

  • Watch the following clip “Lily and the Snowman” and be inspired to write a Christmas/Winter story.

  • Reading – Choose a book that you really enjoy/enjoyed. Write a book report describing the events in the story and why you would recommend it to a friend.

IDL

  • Art – watch the following youtube video on how to make a 3D snowflake.

Take a photograph of your completed snowflake and blog a reply.

  • Science – using household material or if there is snow/ice outside, create a science investigation and write a report describing your findings and results. If you are finding it difficult to choose a question to investigate use the following website for ideas

  • RE – take some time to reflect on the gifts of God in our own lives. Create a prayer for those who are less fortunate than ourselves.  Write the prayer out and add a border and decorations.  Display your prayer in your house.
