Primary 6 Weekly News

Learning Overview:

Literacy: We have been continuing with our Procedural writing genre and we enjoyed discussing some new Boost Words from our class novel. We have also been practising some new Spanish Boost phrases.

Numeracy:

We have been learning to identify different angles and next week we will be drawing and measuring angles using protractors. We have been developing our multiplication skills, using times tables facts to help.

Health and Wellbeing:

We have been discussing anti-bullying as part of anti-bullying week and trying to think of things we can do and ways that we can help to prevent this in our school

Pupil voice:

Our highlights by Rhia and Michelle:

This week the P6 class has been working very hard.

This week in Writing, we wrote a procedure about how to access OneNote and we discussed the importance of developing our Digital Organisation skills.

On Tuesday we went to the Cinema to see the film ‘The Grinch’.  It was really fun and also some bits of the movie were quite emotional.

In Science we have been learning about how to make a water wheel.

We have been finishing our symmetry pictures to present on our Maths Working Wall.

Mrs Reeves was impressed at how well we did during Numeracy where we were multiplying by 10, 100, 1000 and we really enjoyed the Times Table activity.

Parental Involvement:

Encourage your child to use any of the following Boost Words in a sentence:

wailing, clutched, sagged, splendour, jutted, crimson, peered, sepia

Help your child to practice our new Spanish phrases:

Is it assembly today?

¿Hay asamblea hoy?

(Ay  as-am-blay–a  oy?)

Can I use pens?

¿Puedo usar bolígrafos?

(Pway-doh oos-ar  bol–ee–ger-a-foss?)

Ask your child to identify different angles around the house.

  1. A great blog post this week P6, very informative! I liked your context for procedural writing – I have been looking at all your OneNote profiles this week.
