For our topic this term we have been learning facts about some famous Scottish people from history.  The people we are finding out about all have links with Livingston (places or buildings named after them).  So far we have learned about Sir Walter Scott; who was a famous Scottish writer, the names of the streets in Dedridge are all taken from people or places in his writings. And we learned about Saint Margaret; one of our local High Schools is named after her, she was a very kind and caring Queen in Scotland.  Look out for our future blog posts where we will share the next historical figures we are learning about.

In numeracy we have discussed the “Commutative Law”, we sometimes call them “switchers “as it is a little easier to say!  This law says that when you add or multiply numbers you get the same the same answer if you swap the numbers round.  For example,

                  3 + 4 = 7                               4 x 2 = 8

                  4 + 3 = 7                               2 x 4 = 8

We have been building and drawing arrays to show this, try drawing an array at home for the following number story,

4 x 3 = 12 = 3 x 4

Just a reminder that our PE days are back to normal next week, Tuesday and Thursday.  Thank you for your cooperation this week with the change of day.

Have a lovely weekend

Mrs Currie
