Dreaming of being Doctors in Primary 2!

In time this week we have been learning all about the difference between am and pm on a digital clock.

We have been finding it tricky to understand that 1 am has a number 1 on the clock but when it’s pm it changes to 13.

We will continue to work on this.

Here are some games to play at home to help us understand the difference.

Also look at Sumdog for a homework challenge.

This week we went on a visit to the Health Centre.

Wojciech “We got to see all of the files for all of the people who go to the Dedridge Health Centre. We weren’t allowed to touch them because they are private.”

Ryan- There were 11,000 files in the Health centre.”

Lilly- “We went into the doctors room and the lady showed us a blood pressure machine.”

Filip- “The thermos scan checks your temperature and you put this in your ear.”

Angelina- “We got to have a turn of the stethoscope and listen for our heart beats.”

Leo-“You go to the nurses for your injections; we went in to have a look.”

We really enjoyed our visit to the Health Centre and were very happy to get a special certificate.

In writing this week we wrote about being a community helper.

We tried to choose different community helpers to be and our learning intention was to include conjunctions in our writing.

Miss Boyes really enjoyed reading about the different jobs that we would like to do in the community.

Also this week we have been learning about the difference between needs and wants. We were a bit confused at first because some of us thought that we needed things like a TV or tablet.

However we now know that this is not something we need as we could live without it.

We spoke a lot about our rights and how the things we need help us meet our rights.

For topic we looked on google maps and mapped out the different places near us where we could go for help. We drew pictures on our own map and labelled the pictures.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend, from Miss Boyes and Primary 2!
