P2 Weekly News!

In maths we started learning about digital time and we have been trying to understand that there are 24 hours in a day. At our written station we worked with Miss Boyes to match the words for the time to the correct digital clock. Next week we will be learning about the difference between Am and Pm. If anyone has a digital clock at home it would be good for you to compare the digital time to the time on an analogue clock for o’clock and half past.

For number talks we have been trying to mentally add a 2 digit number to a single digit. For example 27+5=

We have been sharing the easiest and quickest methods of finding the answer.

This week we recorded the month of our Birthdays with tally marks.

Ryan- “When we have 5 tally marks we need to cross four out.”

After recording the tally marks we then shaded in our birthday bar graph. We have done a very good job at recording the data.

Here is a game that we can play at home to help us collect and analyse data for different types of graphs.

In writing this week we wrote letters for our new teacher. We don’t know who our new teacher will be yet but we just chose who we would like it to be. Our challenge was to write independently and show Miss Boyes all of our writing skills that we have learned so far in Primary 2. Overall Miss Boyes was very impressed with our hard work and effort during writing this week. We all really enjoyed writing our letters and we even got to share them with the teacher who we wrote to.

This week we have been speaking more about Mary and why we pray to Mary. We made a rosary bead display for the wall and we have a picture of Mary to look at when we pray to her.

We loved PE this week and we were super excited to do the high jump. We had to try running from different sides of the hall to decide which side we felt most comfortable with.

Vanessa-“You have to do a special scissor jump and jump sideways.”

We have started our new topic this week which is “People Who Help Us”. We have made a topic plan for the wall and discussed the people who we would like to learn more about.

In class we looked at Global goal 3 this week “Health and Wellbeing”. We made posters to promote this goal and included different pictures of the things you need for good quality health and wellbeing.

We drew pictures of hospitals, doctors, vaccinations, medicine, clean water, food and shelter. We discussed the importance of having vaccinations in early childhood to prevent us from becoming sick.

We hope you all have a lovely long weekend from Primary 2 and Miss Boyes.
