    3. If you win a gold medal, you won’t get a real gold medal. They are silver with gold plating. They have been like this for around 100 years.

  4. The first Olympic games celebrated the Greek god Zeus.
The most medals won in history was 18 by Larrisa Latynina. She was a gymnast from the Soviet Union.
The record for countries taking part is 202 in Athens in 2004.

  5. I read Saffron the yellow fairy. Its has lots of stories in it, I have read 3 so far. The stories are about Saffrons adventures. In the first she saves some people from a fierce bee, the second is a rescue mission and the third is about making friends. I enjoy the stories because I like fairies.

  6. I have been reading Public Enemy Number Two by Anthony Horowitz with my dad. Nick Diamond has just been set up for stealing a jewel and has been sent to jail. His brother was witness at the trial and he said all the wrong things. It was very funny.
I wanted to read this book because I think Anthony Horowitz books are exciting.

I played fraction flags and fraction monkeys. They were both good fun.

Three interesting facts about the Olympics: The ancient Olympic Games were held from the 8th century BC. The Olympic Games were cancelled in 1916, 1940 and 1944 due to world wars. There are now 35 sports included.

    1. The 5 rings of the Olympic flag represent Africa, Australia, Asia, Europe and the Americas, they’re linked together in friendship. Every national flag of the world has at least one of the ring colours, blue, black, green, yellow and red.

    2. Held every four years in honour of the Greek god Zeus, records show that the ancient Olympic Games began in 776bc in Olympia and weren’t halted until 394ad.

    3. The last few olympics have seen a record number of nearly 11,000 people from a record number of 204 countries, competing in a record number of 28 sports and 41 disciplines over a record 302 events.

    Reading

The book that I chose to read is called The Secret Puppy and it’s about a girl called Daisy who goes to a farm campsite where her family are spending the holidays. She finds out the farm dog has just had puppies and she can’t help falling in love with one particular puppy, who she named Barney.

I chose this book as the type of dog it is about is a German Shephard which is my favourite reed of dog.

  9. I played Tree Frog Treasure and Fraction Beach. My favourite game was Tree Frog Treasure because it is a fun game and it helps you learn.

  10. Lorena’s reading homework:

I chose to read a poem called ‘Earth Day Mixup’. It is about someone who was telling their friend about Earth Day but the friend heard wrong and thought they said birthday and was planning to buy presents. When she realised she had been mixed up she still made a birthday cake and thats how they celebrated earth day. I chose this poem as I thought it was quite funny and had good rhyming words.

  11. I read a story in the news during the week about an animal that had gone missing and was found 6 weeks later. The animal looks like a dog but isnt and belongs to a company who come to our school fairs they are called party animal encounters the animal is called Priscilla it had gone missing after someone had opened its cage outside and was found 6 weeks later. The owner was very very happy. I liked reading about Priscilla as it was a story with such a happy ending and also because they bring their animals to our school. By Taylor Quinn 😀
