On Friday, P4\/3 celebrated Scotland’s national poet, Robert Burns. He was a famous poet and songwriter and known for writing in Scots. He wrote about nature, love, and animals, with famous works like “Auld Lang Syne”. His birthday is celebrated annually on 25th January (Burns Night) with suppers featuring haggis, neeps and tatties and his poetry. He was born in Alloway, Ayrshire, to a farming family and he often wrote about the lives of ordinary people. His work remains globally recognised!<\/span><\/p>\n

Children enjoyed learning some facts about the life of Robert Burns, listening to highland music and had a wee taste of some Scottish treats including shortbread, tablet, oatcakes with cheese and (sugar free!) Irn-Bru.<\/p>\n
