P6 await the Great Pumpkin

Week beginning 28th September 2026

Well, it is now October, so Mr Eden and the class are awaiting the arrival of the Great Pumpkin…

Also this week we have been deepening our knowledge of quadrilaterals by focussing on a particular type of quadrilateral, the triangle.

We looked at how the length of the sides, and the sizes of the angles inside a triangle, can help to classify it.

We took time with the Cuisenaire rods to create these different types of triangle, then we found them through pictures.

Spanish this week (and for the last few) has been looking at expressing preferences and revising colours.

In PE, we have begun a new Striking unit, that of learning to play the game 4 Square!

This is new to us so we took time Wednesday to practice our striking skills on a slow moving target (a balloon) before transferring this to a ball.

In Literacy we are bringing our work on Friend or Foe to a close by finding out more about the author (Michael Morpurgo) and creating presentations to deliver next week. Stay tuned for those!

We learned the term “search engine” and discussed how to make an effective search.

For Leader in Me the class has been talking about the impact of proactive and reactive responses to situations. Brainstorm a list of proactive phrases that can be used by everyone!
