P6 Posters and skipping and number lines, oh my.

Week Beginning 31/8/26

This week we have been working away and settling into our routines more.

In Maths our daily Number Talk, which incorporates a Building Thinking Classrooms approach, we have been concentrating on using an open Number Line for subtraction work.

We then took this further to work on addition questions and also explored alternative ways to model a question, such as the Bar Model.

PE saw us developing our Skipping unit by progressing on to the Intermediate tricks and beginning to log which tricks we have mastered and had witnessed through self and peer assessment.

And of course, we had endurance club. We have some new member of both 1 Minute and 2 minute Club.

In Leader in Me this week, we learned how to have a growth mindset and perseverance. Having a growth mindset helps us persevere through tough situations. Work together to create a plan your family can use when you encounter a difficult situation.

In Topic, we have been looking at the role of animals in the First World War and continuing to read Warhorse as our class novel. We created posters to explain the role animals had and highlight some famous examples.
