Good afternoon @Primary 7, I hope you’ve enjoyed the Inventions Project or your Transition work this morning. This afternoon we have some Topic\/IDL work for you and some HWB.<\/p>\n
Today’s Topic Work:<\/strong><\/p>\n After the PE and HWB focus of Mrs Lafferty’s Virtual Sports Fortnight, we return to our Canada\/Scotland topic.\u00a0 Today we are going to look at Climate.\u00a0 Now with Canada being the second largest country in the world with some of it lying inside the Arctic Circle, it has many different climates.\u00a0 Scotland also has many Islands that don’t get quite the same climate as the rest of Mainland Scotland so we are simply going to compare two cities.<\/p>\n I have included tables of average monthly rainfall and temperature information for Toronto and Edinburgh.\u00a0 Your job is to create graphs to display this information.\u00a0 You should remember doing this during our Rainforest topic at the start of the year.<\/p>\n Here is a little video that shows you what to do:<\/p>\n https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Wv6yHl0LpgM<\/a><\/p>\n And a PPT with a bit of information:<\/p>\n Climate-Graphs-PPT<\/a><\/p>\n Now the information you need to create the graphs is in this pdf:<\/p>\n Climate Comparison<\/a><\/p>\n If you can print out the graph paper great but don’t worry if you can’t. A piece of paper and a ruler will be enough – you saw in the video he didn’t use graph paper.\u00a0 If you know how or have someone who can help – you could use a spreadsheet(Excel) to create the graphs or there are even online sites that help you make your own graphs too. https:\/\/www.onlinecharttool.com\/graph<\/a><\/p>\n I’m looking forward to seeing how you manage as at high schools you’ll be making graphs in Maths, Science, Geography and ICT!<\/p>\n Today’s HWB Work:<\/strong><\/p>\n We continue with our Beano work and bouncebackability.\u00a0 The focus is on Responsible Use of Mobile Phones. How many of you have fallen out with a friend over a text message? How often was that because the meaning of the text wasn’t as clear as if you had been speaking directly to the person?\u00a0 Lots of misunderstanding come this way. Who has been sitting on a bus and had to listen to a stranger’s full conversation because they are talking loudly?\u00a0 Who has been in public and had to listen to someone else’s music because they aren’t wearing earphones? Who has been in church and heard a phone ring?\u00a0 Mobile phones are great, they let us stay connected to our family and friends but we need to use them considerately.
