P1B highlights:<\/p>\n
Reyansh \u2013 \u201cPopping bubbles and hitting the balloons in the air was fun.\u201d We welcome our new pupil Reyansh to our St John Ogilvie family and hope he is very happy here and settles in well.\u00a0 The children were learning about the sound \u2018b\u2019 this week.\u00a0 Each time they popped a bubble they had to say the \u2018b\u2019 sound.\u00a0 We then had a balloon party just for the fun of it!\u00a0 (Thank you Mrs Lafferty for supplying the balloons!)<\/p>\n
Freya \u2013 \u201cI liked making boats using 2D shapes.\u201d\u00a0 The boys and girls have been learning to recognise 2D shapes and their proprieties this week.\u00a0 We then made boats (linking our phonics) using these shapes.\u00a0 We could draw them freely, draw around shape templates our use our cutting skills and cut shapes out (or a combination of all).<\/p>\n
Matteo \u2013 \u201cI liked using sticks in the woods to do our sums.\u201d\u00a0 On Thursday when we were in the woodlands, we took up some dice, white boards and markers.\u00a0 We rolled the dice and using natural materials, created sums.\u00a0 Unfortunately the rain started and began to rub out our create work so we had to abandon this activity and move on to our free play.<\/p>\n
Jonah \u2013 \u201cDesigning dens was good.\u201d\u00a0 This week P1B have been learning about what it means to be safe.\u00a0 The children had so many ideas and we put them into a spider diagram.\u00a0 Next we went into groups and designed dens (cosy and makes us feel safe inside) and presented our ideas to the class.\u00a0 Great teamwork P1B!<\/p>\n
Mrs Devlin\u2019s Highlight \u2013 My highlight has to be linked to Jonahs.\u00a0 The children worked well together and included their groups\u2019 ideas.\u00a0 We had bunting, plant pots, pillows, ladders and all sorts of imaginative features in our dens.\u00a0 I was impressed how the children encouraged one another when presenting back to the class.<\/p>\n
