Hello to all primary 6b families, it is lovely to be back!<\/p>\n
This week has been lots of fun, we have all been catching up on the last 6 months and I have been meeting and getting to know some new faces!<\/p>\n
This week for literacy we have been focussing on our core writing targets, we wrote a piece of writing about the children’s fantastic Burns Night last week, then the children used their core writing targets to self-assess so they know exactly what they want to work on next time. We also had a look at one of our reciprocal reading strategies which was summarising, the children summarised a short story which we read as a class, some also predicted what might happen next.<\/p>\n
We have been making bar graphs this week, we collected data about everyone’s favourite movie\/tv series and put this into a bar graph to display our findings.<\/p>\n
We went out to the woods on Monday and the children had a great time playing and exploring.<\/p>\n
We introduced our new topic this week which is Ancient Greece, the children shared what they already know about Ancient Greece and I was blown away! Then we got some time on the netbooks to research some key facts about Greece, we will be starting this topic after the February break.<\/p>\n
Tomorrow is safer internet day, we talked about the dangers of being online and how these link to our rights. The children then came up with 4 top tips for staying safe online, we made posters to explain these.<\/p>\n
Today we had a lovely time at mass, all of the children in primary 6 were extremely respectful and we had lots of compliments on our participation, behaviour and listening. Well done everyone!<\/p>\n
This weeks hot chocolate winner was Olek, he has been invaluable this week, keeping me right every day and always offering help as I get back into the swing of things here in St John Ogilvie!<\/p>\n
