Here are this week\u2019s learning highlights from The Red Pandas:<\/p>\n
Leighton\u00a0 and Daniel said they loved making the instructional drawing firework picture and choosing a sound word for the inside of their firework.\u00a0 Some onomatopoeic words suggested were: boom, crack, fizz, pop, bang, zip\u2026.<\/p>\n
Tyler T said the highlight of his learning this week was our work about the long u sound oo\/ew\/u_e.\u00a0 The children drew pictures to match a story which had many of these long u sounds within it, looked up recipes for our own cookbooks and some children used blocks to recreate pews within a church!<\/p>\n
Maja loved the story of \u00a0Zacchaeus as part of our learning about God\u2019s forgiveness.\u00a0 We acted out the story in groups.\u00a0 We learned that when we ask for God\u2019s forgiveness, we can change, like Zacchaeus did!<\/p>\n
Dawid loved learning about Ancient Roman Numerals.\u00a0 He won a prize for the neatest work!\u00a0 We were very interested to learn why Kings and Queens still use Roman Numerals today as part of their title.\u00a0 We researched this in non-fiction books and online and found out that it is to show their Royal lineage.<\/p>\n
Nathan LOVED tasting honey today.\u00a0 This experience will kick start our learning about honeybees next week as we study a descriptive piece on these important creatures.<\/p>\n
Laaibah and Viaan enjoyed learning basic hockey skills.\u00a0 The children held the bat correctly and manoeuvred the hockey ball between cones.<\/p>\n
Amelia said the best part of her week was assembly about the important work the charity, Missio do; children helping children around the world.<\/p>\n
My highlight this week was seeing how enthusiastic the children were when we were learning about Roman Numerals and the rich discussion we had about what the letters represented and the links to addition.\u00a0 Some children recognised that they had clocks at home with Roman Numerals on them and how they couldn\u2019t wait to tell their parents what these letters represented and why.<\/p>\n
Just a reminder to respond to the message from the school regarding our new homework starting next week.\u00a0 If you choose to \u2018Opt-in\u2019, be sure to look out for this new homework in your child\u2019s homework pack on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
