Hello P3 families!\u00a0 Here are our highlights this week from The Polar Bears:<\/p>\n

Maks said the best lesson of this week was PE.\u00a0 We played a game were half the class sat in a circle with a hula hoop between each person (see photos below) while 2 children from the 2nd<\/sup> half ran around the outside of the circle to music.\u00a0 When the music stopped, they had to manoeuvre their body through the nearest hula hoop and the first one to grab the cone in the middle, won!\u00a0 The children really enjoyed this and are eager to play it again.\u00a0 Next time, not only will they be running but complete different sequences of movements as they move around the circle.<\/p>\n

Dawid\u2019s highlight was learning about Viking Gods.\u00a0 This week we compared our Christian belief of Creation with the Viking mythology of how their God, Odin created the world.\u00a0 We then began to recount this myth and next week will finish it off.\u00a0 Here is a link to a BBC video if your child wishes to watch it again: Odin creates the World | Primary English – Viking Saga Stories<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Oscar liked our handwriting lesson.\u00a0 We have been revising formation of letters before we progress on to joined up letters and do so by grouping them together.\u00a0 This week we revised those letters that begin with a downward movement.<\/p>\n

Daisy loved when we went in to the woodland with magnifying glasses to search for bugs.\u00a0 This was part of our learning about taking care of God\u2019s world.\u00a0 Just a reminder that we hope to make a bug hotel or bird feeder next week.\u00a0 Thank you for your donations so far of the recyclable materials we will need for this (see Seesaw post for specifics).<\/p>\n

Umeaz has been enjoying the new class novel, \u2018Thorfin the Nicest Viking\u2019.<\/p>\n

Vikashni said her favourite lesson was music with Mrs Morrison were the children continued on their music adventure of Treasure Island.<\/p>\n

My highlight this week was not only seeing all the children again after my absence (I had a throat infection) but seeing how well they worked as a team to come up with a new name for their reading group.\u00a0 They were tasked with the challenge of having a Viking themed name.\u00a0 The final decisions were: The Shields, Odin, The Longboats, Thor, The Vikings, The Axe Throwers, The Brain Crushers and The Settlers.\u00a0 Look out for your child\u2019s reading book in their homework pack on Tuesday next week (usually Mondays).\u00a0 This book is for you to enjoy with your child, I will be hearing them read a more challenging book matched to their reading comprehension age in class.\u00a0 Please return their book on a Friday.\u00a0 Thank you.<\/p>\n
