Hello P3A families,<\/p>\n

It has been so great to see the children after the Easter holidays and everyone settled back in quite quickly.\u00a0 Here are this week\u2019s highlights from the Yellow table:<\/p>\n

Ollie enjoyed our learning about Spring.\u00a0 The children looked at some images online of animals feeding their young.\u00a0 We also learned about breastfeeding as a healthy choice for babies.\u00a0 We recalled Mrs Lafferty\u2019s visit with her new baby before the Easter holidays when she spoke to us about how to take care of a baby.<\/p>\n

Hasika loved planting seeds.\u00a0 The children planted nasturtium seeds 2cms deep and have been tending to them all week.\u00a0 They know that plants need water, sunlight, soil and air to grow.\u00a0 They are looking forward to taking these flowers home and tasting these edible petals!<\/p>\n

Laura \u00a0said the best part of her week was PE.\u00a0 We linked or maths learning about \u2018clockwise\u2019 and \u2018anticlockwise\u2019\u00a0 with a \u2018Duck, Duck, Goose\u2019 game.\u00a0 The children had to run in the given direction.<\/p>\n

Zion liked our lesson on angles.\u00a0 The children went on a hunt for angles that were bigger or smaller than a right angle.\u00a0 We met Mrs Right who always wears a square necklace with 4 right angles.<\/p>\n

Olivia\u2019s highlight was joined up handwriting of the letters \u2018ve\u2019.\u00a0 We made a list of words that have those 2 letters together and discovered that there are quiet a lot of them such as \u2018have, gave, live, vegan, cave\u2026\u2019<\/p>\n

Diana loved rounders.\u00a0 The children are super at working together to run around the cones and a couple have managed a home run!\u00a0 They are improving with their throwing, catching and batting skills.<\/p>\n

Hafsah said a learning highlight of hers was completing an instructional drawing of a bunch of flowers with Mrs Brand.<\/p>\n

Tvisha was excited to share that a maths lesson about fractions was the best part of her week.\u00a0 The children cut a piece of bread in to four equal parts and then halved them again to make eighths.\u00a0 They had a choice of spreads for their bread.<\/p>\n

My highlight was the maths lesson about left and right (we had lots of directional learning this week).\u00a0 Some children were blindfolded and were given directions that had them travelling around the room.\u00a0 Many children were already confident with this learning as we use our right hand to bless ourselves during prayers.<\/p>\n

Congratulations to Riley, our hot chocolate award winner this week and Alicaj our reading champion!<\/p>\n

Lead Learners were Ethan and Haskia.\u00a0 They had the important role of looking out for people who were demonstrating our school rules of being Ready, Respectful and Safe.\u00a0 They also get to say something extra for the blog:<\/p>\n

Hasika – \u201cI also liked the raspberry jam on the bread when we were learning about fractions.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ethan – \u201c I loved GoNoodle.\u00a0 I can\u2019t pick my best song.\u00a0 I liked them all.\u201d<\/p>\n

This week we had a trial of moving seats for the term ahead.\u00a0 At the end of the week after careful deliberation, I have decided that going forward, we will have \u2018Move it Mondays\u2019 instead and the remainder of the week we will stay in our old seats.<\/p>\n
