Hello P3A families,<\/p>\n

Here are this week\u2019s highlights from the Red table:<\/p>\n

Jack liked Number Talks.\u00a0 As reported a previous week, the children estimate how many items they can see and use clues to work out the correct answer.\u00a0 They then check to see if their estimate was correct.\u00a0 This particular Number Talk is a class favourite!<\/p>\n

Tvisha loved listening to the bagpipes on Burns Day.\u00a0 Mrs Brown played her favourite song, \u2018Highland Cathedral\u2019.<\/p>\n

Grace enjoyed learning about the Trinity; that God the Father, Jesus the Son and the Holy Spirit are one.\u00a0 We used the analogy of an egg to help us understand this.\u00a0 The shell, yoke and white are all part of the egg.\u00a0 Of course, we also learned about St Patrick and the shamrock too!\u00a0 The children sang a song called, \u2018The Trinity is a Mystery\u2019.\u00a0 It can be found here: https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=USRbkAx-AEE<\/a><\/p>\n

Zion said his highlight was the football after school club.<\/p>\n

Caiden\u2019s was iron bru and shortbread.\u00a0 A special Scottish treat!\u00a0 Thank you to Mrs McKissack for providing the tasty shortbread.<\/p>\n

Twida liked tracing the map of West Lothian for our wall display.\u00a0 He and Zion worked as part of a team to prepare this.\u00a0 Good job boys!<\/p>\n

Deveena liked Scottish country dancing with Mrs Ross during PE.\u00a0 Mrs Ross explained that the dance, called \u2018The Flying Scotsman\u2019 was named after famous train in Scotland.\u00a0 She was very impressed with how fast the children picked this dance up!<\/p>\n

My highlight was the performances of the Burns poems the children orally composed (some went on to write them for our Star Writer wall).\u00a0 First, we listened to his poem, To a Mouse (found here: https:\/\/primary.scotshoose.com\/toamouse.html<\/a>) and used nature to inspire our own poems.\u00a0 We went to the local river and wooded area.\u00a0 We used our senses to record ideas for our poems.\u00a0 Once back in class, we worked in \u00a0pairs to compose our own poem like Burns did.\u00a0 We selected 2 words from our note taking outside and using the internet, researched the word in Scots.\u00a0 The children had the choice if they wanted to perform their poem in front of the rest of the class and most did!\u00a0 What confidence!<\/p>\n

Congratulations to Zion, our hot chocolate award winner and Grace, our reading champion this week!<\/p>\n

Lead Learners were Alicaj and Rory.\u00a0 They had the important role of looking out for people who were demonstrating our school rules of being Ready, Respectful and Safe.\u00a0 They also get to say something extra for the blog:<\/p>\n

Alicaj \u2013 \u201cI liked going to the river.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rory \u2013 \u201cI liked weaving to make our own tartan.\u201d<\/p>\n
