Pupil Highlights:<\/p>\n

Kieran: We cemented simplifying fractions in maths and began utilising our reciprocal reading skill<\/p>\n

‘clarifying’.<\/p>\n

Liam: We discussed why we even simplify fractions in our daily lives\u00a0 – to make fractions easier to use.<\/p>\n

Alex: We simplify fractions to make quantities of amounts easier to work with and visualise.<\/p>\n

Rupert: This week we learnt what clarifying is – to clarify is when you do not understand a word and you use different techniques to identify the meaning of the word or phrase. Some of the strategies : find little words within the actual word itself.<\/p>\n

Connor: three clarifying strategies are – re read the sentence, and, read the sentence before and after. Look at the illustrations for clues.<\/p>\n

Riya: another clarifying strategy –\u00a0 ask yourself, do you recognise words that are similar.<\/p>\n

Liam: use your prior knowledge for clarifying.<\/p>\n

Hot Chocolate Winner: Congratulations to Connor for winning hot chocolate this week. You have been absolutely smashing it in Reciprocal Reading, explaining in your own words, the different strategies for clarifying.<\/p>\n
