{"id":11009,"date":"2020-11-13T11:40:28","date_gmt":"2020-11-13T11:40:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/wl\/stjohnogilvieprimary\/?p=11009"},"modified":"2020-11-13T11:48:16","modified_gmt":"2020-11-13T11:48:16","slug":"p2b-week-beginning-9th-november","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/wl\/stjohnogilvieprimary\/2020\/11\/13\/p2b-week-beginning-9th-november\/","title":{"rendered":"P2B Week Beginning 9th November"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>P2B have had a full week!\u00a0 I cannot believe it is Friday already!\u00a0 Here are our best bits:<\/p>\n<p>Millie enjoyed playing \u2018Hungry Hippos\u2019, a game we played with our partner using Numicon Pieces and a pencil.\u00a0 Mrs Devlin and some children who were pretending to be teacher, called out subtraction sums and we had to race to find the answer!\u00a0 It was FUN!<\/p>\n<p>Reyansh liked our phonics lessons this week, in particular our learning about the \u2018igh\u2019 sound.\u00a0 The activity he enjoyed the most for this learnig was when he had to write \u2018igh\u2019 words on the eyelashes of an eye (sight) and fill the iris full of colour.\u00a0 He chose to use brown tissue because he has brown eyes.<\/p>\n<p>Freya loved showing the class the rug she made for our Virtual Classroom.\u00a0 It was a beautiful heart shape.\u00a0 Thank you to all who sent furniture.\u00a0 Look out for it over the coming weeks as we will need to take turns.<\/p>\n<p>Alexa liked it when we collected Autumn leaves in the woodland and then sorted their colours.\u00a0 We transferred the information into a bar chart.\u00a0 We found that brown leaves were mostly collected and green leaves were least collected.<\/p>\n<p>Mia and DaisyDee were our Lead Learners this week.\u00a0 They report enjoying making poppies for Remembrance Day and &#8216;oi&#8217; phonics learning.\u00a0 They also identified a target for the class to work on this week which was, &#8216;To push our chairs in when we are not sitting on them (as some children were forgetting).\u00a0 Thank you girls for the positive contribution you made to our class this week as our Lead Learners!<\/p>\n<p>Mrs Devlin\u2019s Highlight was the Acrostic Poem we wrote this week called \u2018<em>Autumn\u2019<\/em>.\u00a0 We used a dictionary to inspire us when we found it tricky to think of words that started with the letters A U T U M N.\u00a0 There was a roar of laughter when we found the word \u2018Nappy\u2019 but through discussion realised this would not be a good choice of word.\u00a0 Together we complied the poem as a class and had the choice to either copy it down fully, copy it down in part and then come up with our own ideas or else write our own poem completely.\u00a0 I was so impressed with what the children came up with!\u00a0 See the photos below for some examples.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-11014\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/wl\/stjohnogilvieprimary\/files\/2020\/11\/IMG_20811.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1260\" height=\"1260\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-11015\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/wl\/stjohnogilvieprimary\/files\/2020\/11\/IMG_20801.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1260\" height=\"1260\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-11020\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/wl\/stjohnogilvieprimary\/files\/2020\/11\/IMG_20881.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1260\" height=\"1260\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>P2B have had a full week!\u00a0 I cannot believe it is Friday already!\u00a0 Here are our best bits: Millie enjoyed playing \u2018Hungry Hippos\u2019, a game we played with our partner using Numicon Pieces and a pencil.\u00a0 Mrs Devlin and some &hellip;
