Outdoor learning gives children freedom to learn using all of their senses and it encourages creative and imaginative thinking. The children were entrusted with the task of clearing away brambles, bushes, overgrown weeds etc to create a safe environment in which the whole school can enjoy as an outdoor classroom. Learning outdoors often involves practical, hands on experiences, which are of great benefit to kinaesthetic learners (children who learn by doing) The children worked in groups of three, using a variety of tools, used problem solving skills and cooperative skills to safely clear the area.
As you can see, learning outdoors is great fun for children AND teachers!
