Thank you very much to all parents who came to help us with our walk.
We decided on which route to take. On the way we played ‘I spy’ to reinforce colours, numbers, letters and signs. We saw red, blue, yellow and green things. We spied a yellow grit bucket and we discussed the winter weather and how we use salt to melt the snow and ice on the roads and pavements. We saw numbers on the speed limit signs and on car plates. We also identified door and bin numbers. There were numbers all around us! We looked for letters on signs and shops. We named and counted many shops around our nursery. We went to the Post Office where we bought stamps and discussed how the post office helps us to communicate with others through letters. Now we are going to write our own letters and post them to the children in the nursery. We went to the Scotmid where we played ‘I spy cheese’ in the morning and ‘I spy apples’ in the afternoon. We bought them for nursery snack. On the way back we used our legs to measure steps. We used long steps and short steps. We were counting and comparing the size and colour of birds. We even tried to identify them. We saw beautiful flowers and we waved at the children in the nursery from the street.
