2D and 3D Shapes

Hi everyone,

Hope your all well and safe, today when I was making my breakfast as i picked up the plate I started thinking about shapes.

Some shapes are 2D which are flat e,g Square and others are 3D shapes which are solid objects e.g Cube.

I began to think about all the 2D and 3D shapes I can find in the house.

here are some 2D shapes I found :

Can you find any shapes like these in your house ?.

There are lots of 2D shapes squares, rectangles, triangles and circles in your home see how many you can find. Look at the windows, doors, tables, clocks and cushions.

As seen in the picture below 3D shapes are just as common to find in your house as 2D.

For example Cube, cuboid, prism, sphere and cylinder

Can you match the objects in the photo below to the above list ?

Perhaps you and your grown up can make some junk models using 3D shapes found in the recycling e.g robots, trains, cars etc have fun let your imagination go wild !.

Though you might like this little song to help you remember shapes.

Keep Safe,

Nursery Team
