Shapes 2D and 3D

Hi everyone

Hope you are all safe and well. The Nursery ladies are missing you all and hoping to see you all soon. Todays activity was inspired from the Valentines activities this was all about the heart shape so I thought we could look at some of the other shapes we know. Learning about the difference between 2D and 3D shapes.  The pictures below show some items you can find in your home everyday.  The first picture is 2D shapes and the second is 3D shapes.

The difference between a 2D shape and a 3D shape is the 2D shape is completely flat a 3D shape is solid.

Hope you enjoyed these songs.  Now I have a challenge for you… Can you find in your house or out in the garden some more 2D and 3D shapes.  Some of the items you may find are listed below.  Can you tell your grown up if they are flat (2D) or solid (3D).  What are their names square, circle, rectangle, oval, triangle, cube, cuboid, sphere and pyramid.

Plate, football, book, orange, cushion, tin of beans, box of cereal, slice of toast, egg, teabags, toilet roll tube, window, door, DVD disc, DVD cover, radiator, storage boxes etc there are lots of 2D and 3D shapes in your house keep looking  have fun finding them.
