9.3.18 5A

Well done for all the great activities you did during our snow days.

This week we learned how to multiply by 2 digits to 2 digits. We are continuing to work on our multiplication tables and we were getting quite fast playing Buzz. We also started work on analogue time, minutes past, minutes to , am and pm. We found digital time easier.

Although we missed the RBS coming in to work with us for our “Party Plan”, next week we are going ahead with it and some P7 pupils will be helping us.

Fairtrade Fortnight

We were learning more about Fairtrade and we completed our footballs for the competition at Linlithgow primary tonight. We played the banana game in class.

For science we continued investigating separation this time by evaporation. We separated a solution of salt water by heating the solution over a candle. There were great salt crystals at the end.

For literacy we completes our grids for comparing life in the Palace with life as a lowlander and we are now ready for our visit to Linlithgow Palace on Monday morning. We drew pencil portraits of the important people in Mary Queen of Scots Life.

P5A Snow days

Hi

I hope everyone has had fun outside today although I nearly got blown into the Loch this morning.

Unfortunately we have missed our RBS money workshop today but hopefully we will get it rescheduled.

We have been working on multiplication chimney sums and problems with money.

For literacy and IDL we have been reading information about life during  Mary Queen of Scot’s  reign, comparing farmers, servants, and ladies in waiting, also life in Edinburgh with life in the highlands. We were listening to music from the Tudor/ Stuart period,  “Greensleeves”.

In Spanish we are continuing with greetings, hola, buenos dias, buenos tardes, adios, hasta luego, hasta manana,  etc. We were going to compare these with the French greetings.

Sorry I don’t have access to glow account at home so I can’t reset passwords for those who have forgotten them.

Hopefully  we will  all be back on Friday.

Primary 5A 16.2.18

A very busy week in P5A  as  we have been up to all different types of things math, shape shifters, castle shading, times tables and more!

We started learning about Mary Queen of Scots, and this week we have been learning about the places she visited. We sketched Linlithgow Palace, Stirling Castle, Holyrood and Chateau d’Amboise using  pencil and are now adding shading to them.

At science we investigated oil slicks and how to separate the oil from the salt water. We found the sawdust and the cotton wool were best at removing the oil. We were surprised that blood is a mixture and we looked at the things that are in our blood on Tigtag.

We are working hard at getting faster at our multiplication tables and played Buzz to help. We sang multiplication Mashup too.

As promised ! Here is the recipe that some pupils did to make slime. This was not done in school and we cannot give you exact amounts,

They used Optrex, PVA glue, food colouring, shaving foam and hand wash. Another group also used laundry detergent and glitter. The school cannot accept liability for this and it  requires parent supervision.
