Hola

Did you know in the world we have roughly 6,500 languages, some are used more frequently than others. English, Hindi, Spanish, French and Mandarin are in the top 12 most used languages in the world. So here is a fun activity for you to celebrate all these languages.

Can you match the language that is spoken with the flag for that country? To find out you can use many different tools, do you have a book in the house? Or could you possibly find it online? People in your family can also be a great help.

Once you have found out the answers why don’t you design your own flag of your choice a make one up.

Please share your answers on your journal with lots of pictures.

Bonjour

Did you know this week it is Scotland loves language week? In Simpson Nursery we are lucky to experience lots of different languages with our families. So it’s a great reason to celebrate different languages.

We love to dance in nursery it’s so much fun! So why not try Heads, shoulders, knees and toes in French? It will be a great way to listen to another language and we already know the dance moves.

You could even record it and put it on your journals for us all to see.

Please follow the link to a copy of the song.

Playdough fun

Here is an easy activity that can give children of all age’s hours of fun!

Playdough is a resource that has an endless amount of learning opportunity for children. Children and adults can find it very relaxing, creating things and being very artistic. Here is an easy recipe that uses not a lot of ingredients that you might have in your kitchen cupboard.

Method

  1. Combine plain flour and salt.
  2. Add water, food colouring and oil. Mix until ingredients are combined.
  3. Knead well.
  4. If consistency is too wet, add a little plain flour.

Please take pictures and share with us!

Out and About

The sun has been shinning as we clean up our planet. Have you noticed the change in the outdoor environment near you? All the staff at Simpson Nursery have, and we want to share it with you! Miss Reilly and Mrs Aiken have been out taking pictures of things you might see on your daily walk. Why don’t you have a look and see if you can find any, you can take some pictures or draw your own picture of things you have seen!

Over the next little while we are going to set up challenges for you to do in the outdoors. This could be; exploring maths with counting or looking at shapes, looking at literacy with signs in your environment, or health and well-being  with doing fun fitness challenges.

We can’t wait to see all your comments and pictures with the activities!

Remember you can post up your pictures on your online learner journal or comment on the blog post.
