The transition from primary to secondary has been an international journey for pupils from the Whitburn schools cluster, resulting in a showcase project on shared responsibility between Scotland and Colombia.
The hard work of the pupils, which started before the summer holidays, was showcased at a special event in Whitburn Academy, an Open Evening on 15 September, attended by Rodrigo Paris, the First Secretary to the Ambassador of Colombia.
This showcase was an opportunity for the young people to share what they have learned on their Colombian journey – as well as entertaining the guests by playing in a Samba band and experiencing a selection of Colombian food.
Headteacher of Whitburn Academy, Ian Adair, explained: “We are delighted to welcome Rodrigo Paris, the First Secretary to the Ambassador of Colombia, to our event.
