We are helping Mrs Hull to organise the school ‘Jump Rope for Heart’ event – a sponsored skipping event on Friday 9th May.  We have sorted out a timetable for classes, drafted the letter for parents and counted out the sponsor forms.  We checked how many skipping ropes we have and will be practising our skipping skills.

Tomorrow we are going to Pumpherston Bowling Club. We will need to wear flat plimsolls or gym rubbers.

Our topic for this term is The Local Community and we are currently practising our class talks about clubs and activities that take place in our community.

We are all pleased to be back to school and we are looking forward to all of the new things we will be learning this term. Our topic this term is the Jacobites. We are hoping to go on a school trip to the Water of Leith Visitor Centre in Edinburgh  to find out more about the Jacobites!

Primary 4

This week we started to learn about our new topic Australia.  We found Australia on the world map and looked at where it was in distance from Scotland.   We then used an Atlas to help us complete a map of Australia.  We searched the internet to find out some facts about both Australia and Scotland.  We discovered that Australia had a much higher population than Scotland.  We then used our maths skills to find the difference between the population of Australia and Scotland.  There are around 18 million more people in Australia than in Scotland!

Primary 4 Topic Homework

Primary 4 to help us learn more about where food comes from we are going to use the website Food a Fact of Life.  Firstly Google search Food a Fact of Life.  Once you are on the home page click 8-11 years along the top of the page. Next click Food and Farming then scroll down until you see the heading Interactive Resources.  Click on the game that is called – Where does your food come from?Play the game and then we will share it together at the end of this week.

Primary 4 – 1960’s Toys

Primary 4  have been researching some of the popular toys from the 1960’s.  We found information, pictures and even old TV adverts on the internet to help us learn about the different toys.   We are going to organise all of the information we have found into a Powerpoint and present it to the Primary 3 children who are currently learning about toys.
