Zoolab

Primary Four had some very special visitors in today!

We met lots of different animals thanks to the team at Zoolab and we all learned lots about them.

Everyone enjoyed themselves and participated by either stroking or holding the animals.

We all had very different reactions to the different creatures, but we could all agree that Spike the Hedgehog was lovely.

Primary 2

This week, Primary 2 found a new classmate!

When we came back from lunch, we found a set of tiny footprints on the floor! We followed them and found a little hedgehog! He had a story book with him and as we read, we found out that Harry (as we named him) needed to find somewhere to hibernate for the winter!

So, we wrapped up warm and ventured off into the nearby woodlands to see if there were any suitable places for Harry to hibernate. We came across different plants like an alder tree and ferns. We were lucky enough to hear bird songs and we even saw a family of deer!

We explored different woodland areas and discussed why they would/would not be suitable for Harry’s hibernation home. We also identified what makes up the woodland itself.

We also made maps to record our woodland journey. We are looking forward to seeing what Harry’s next task is!

Until next time…

P3 Class Blog

P3 have had lots of fun doing expressive arts this week.

For dance, we had a taster session from Danceworld. We all had to stay on our spots and do the moves we learned at the same time.

For drama, we have started rehearsals for our class assembly. We have been learning about scripts, cues and stage directions.

For music, we have been practising singing our songs for the class assembly.

We used our literacy skills to write invitations for our class assembly and brought them home. Please check school bags if you haven’t received your invitation yet. The assembly will be on Friday 24th November. Please arrive at 9am for a 9.15am start.

P5 Camp

Many thanks to the parents/carers who made it along to this evening’s information meeting on the P5 Lendrickmuir camp.  If you couldn’t make it, the powerpoint is available to download below.

Remember that permission slips and £40 deposits are due in by 14 November.  If you find this difficult please speak to a member of staff, we would not want any child to miss out on this fantastic learning and development experience because of money.

Primary 7

This week we had a Halloween themed maths challenge and in science we designed electrical circuits with a Halloween theme. We also had fun at the Halloween disco.

If you are planning on going to a firework display, please remember the following:

  • Only adults should light or set up fireworks.
  • Stand well back when watching fireworks.
  • Never go near a firework that has been lit.

If you are given a sparkler…

  • Always wear gloves.
  • Hold it at arm’s length.
  • Don’t touch it when it goes out.
  • Put it end down in a bucket of water.

Have fun and stay safe!
