Please follow the link below to participate in an ethos survey for parents and carers. We value your input and hope that you will take the time to complete this short survey. Should you require a paper copy, please let the office know and we can arrange this for you. We would be grateful if surveys could be completed by Friday 1st June. Thank you for your support with this.
Emotion words: Primary 5 explained to us different words for the term sadness.
Triggers: We discussed what makes us feel sad.
Body sensations: We also discussed how it feels and what we look like when we are sad.
We watched a video that helped us understand why we might feel sad and what we can do to help.
Regulation strategies: How can we feel better?
We discussed how it is okay to feel sad but how it is important to help ourselves and others feel better if they feel sad. We also discussed how we have people who can help us when we feel sad.
We have been learning lots about our local area during the last term at school and we want to share our learning with you!
On the 11th of May 2018, Primary 4 will be performing their assembly for the school and family and friends of the pupils are invited!
We have been working hard over the last week to bring together all of our learning and we will be getting our lines to learn soon. We can’t wait to see you all there!
We looked at the emotion ‘grumpy’ and brainstormed all of the different words we knew that meant the same thing, like ‘fed up’ and ‘annoyed’. Miss McLaughlin was so impressed with the words we knew! We discussed what being grumpy feels like (our body sensations) and came up with words like ‘shaky’, ‘warm’ and ‘tingly’. We then read the story of ‘Mr Grumpy’ and began to talk about how he showed how he felt (his behaviours). We will be using lots of ‘Mr Men’ and ‘Little Miss’ stories to explore our emotions and build our vocabulary.
As part of our ongoing commitment to self evaluation, you will receive a self evaluation questionnaire this week in your child’s school bag. If you would prefer to complete it online you can download the questionnaires below and return them to the school email address. These questionnaires will be similar to those you received during the inspection process. We would be very grateful if you could take some time to complete them and return them to school.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for our P5 Assembly on Friday. Primary 5 shared all their learning from their recent natural disasters context for learning. They worked in groups to plan and share their learning with us all.
A big well done to the children, Mrs Andison and Mrs Bonner!

As you will be aware, Rookie Rockstars will be coming to work with our children during the week beginning 30th April. They will be working towards helping the children to record their own CD. Our pupils will also be given the opportunity to perform in a concert on the evening of 10th May. Rookie Rockstars have sent this letter with further information about the programme. Tickets for the concert will be on sale very soon. We hope you will be able to come along and support this event!
Day two has been so busy! The 3G swing, high ropes, and leap of faith have been challenging but it is lovely to see the children developing confidence in trying these new things. Mrs Mooney asked one of our pupils what they thought they’d been learning about at camp. His reply? “Teamwork, communication and friendship” It’s great to see them making friends with people they’ll see again at high school. Lunch today was a choice of chicken nuggets, baguette or baked potato. I’m sure you can guess what the most popular choice was!
