Primary 3G

Primary 3 have had another very busy week in school and we have reflected on our learning in class today to share some of our highlights…

We have started doing the register in French each morning to make sure we are practising our French words daily and becoming more confident. We have found this fun and sometimes quite challenging.

In literacy we have been working on identifying nouns, adjectives and verbs before using these in our own writing. We have tried especially hard to include adjectives in our writing to make it detailed and exciting.

We have worked hard in maths, counting on and backwards in 2s, 5s and 10s and we are starting to challenge ourselves by counting in 3s and 4s too.

Our assembly practises are going well, with lots of great speaking and singing about the Romans.

We have also created a new Reading Den in the classroom and given our library a makeover and we are going to use this daily to keep practising our reading comprehension by reading and discussing lots of different kinds of books.

Well done P3G for another fun week!

Have a lovely long weekend.

P7 News

Good Morning,

We have had a fun week in Primary 7 this week with finishing off our artwork and learning about Angles, Triangles and 2D shapes. The class also had a brilliant time outside on Thursday morning were they took part in a fitness activity and did rely racing. They worked incredibly hard and really enjoyed racing against one another in teams.

Next week reading will be completed for Tuesday instead of Monday and Big Talk homework should be in for Wednesday. I would like the boys and girls to research famous landmarks of Paris for a special piece of writing.

Here are some photos of the boys and girls having fun outside during there p.e session.

Have a nice long weekend,

Miss Moir

Looking forward to the Biscuit and Blether this Morning. Mrs Harrison and I will be discussing different ways to keep your child safe online and will be showing a variety of websites for different age groups.

In case you cannot make it, here is a link for the website we will be using and a leaflet explaining how to keep you child safe online.

Thank you for your continued support.

P5/4’s challenge

As this is my last week with my lovely class, I though it would be a good idea to set them a challenge for homework which I know will continue to benefit the children when I am not with them.

This week, the children have had the ‘First Minister’s Reading Challenge explained to them and we have agreed on the first of their challenges.

Everyone has chosen a personal reader in class and time will be allocated every day to enjoy some quiet reading time.  In addition to this, the children have been asked to complete pages 1 and 3 of their reading passport.

Their first challenge is to join the local library (if they are not already a member) and to borrow a book of their choice to read and enjoy.  When the book has been read fully, they will complete a book review in their reading passport.  If they think that someone else will enjoy this book, they can turn to page 36 in the passport and complete some of the information there.

This challenge will continue throughout this term and I hope to visit the children towards the end of term to see how they are getting on with their challenge.

This challenge can only work with the support of our fantastic parents and carers.  We need you to support your child in attending the library and having some quiet time to read.

I’ve attached a couple of photographs of the children already starting to enjoy their E.R.I.C. (everyone reading in class) time.

Many thanks for your continued support.

Primary 3 have had a very busy start to the new term! In PE we worked mainly on our co-ordination skills, thinking and talking about how our brain controls our movements. This led to some tricky games, skills and balances that pupils developed both on their own and while working with a partner. During this lesson everyone showed just how well they can concentrate and work together which was super!

All pupils have now got a new reading book that we will continue to work on regularly in class. As a reading focus this term we are working on our reading comprehension skills. To do this we make sure that we stop every so often while we are reading and discuss the story and the words. This will make sure we are not only identifying the words of the book but also developing our understanding and this is something pupils can also do at home.

I have been so impressed with Primary 3’s writing this week. We began with holiday diaries and then went on to planning and writing an imaginative story based on our Romans topic. Everyone has worked very hard to include great detail in their stories and there has been lots of lovely, neat handwriting too.

In maths we have worked on some tricky problem solving tasks as well as continuing our mental maths work. With lots of speedy answers I can tell lots of practise has taken place through the holidays.

Yesterday we reviewed our Roman topic as we took part in some research tasks all about the Romans (we have been singing about them too).

Well done Primary 3 on having such a good first week!

P6 and P7 Conference

Good Afternoon Everyone,

Welcome back after the Easter Holidays. I hope everyone had a well deserved break and rest. We even managed to get some sunshine which was lovely too see 🙂

Since coming back P6 and P7 have been busy learning the CAB song for the conference and a small group supported Mrs Millar in creating the video to show what Murrayfield learned during the visit from the Fire Service. The conference was a great success and the boys and girls really enjoyed visiting Blackburn Primary School and sharing their experiences with everyone together.

Here are some photos of the conference for you to try and find everyone.

P7 have also created some lovely spring artwork this week and have been learning about angles in Maths. Pictures to follow.

Have a nice weekend,
