HAVE A LOVELY LONG WEEKEND  ( We still miss Bonzo! – hopefully we’ll find him soon)

P7 News

p7 have been really enjoying their outdoor P.E sessions this term, especially with all the lovely weather we have been having recently. This terms focus has been athletics, and the children have been working on their team building skills through races and jumping. Yesterday, the focus was the long and short jump and Aaron W managed to capture some amazing action shots! Take a look and see if you recognise anyone.

We have been continuing our French topic and our Big Writing focus was the new prime minister of France-Emmanuel Macron. The children wrote reports on him, either personal or persuasive and I am impressed with standard I have seen so far. Great Job guys.

Have a lovely long weekend,

Miss Moir

This week in P3G

This week in P3G

This week in primary 3 we have done lots of fun, challenging and exciting activities.

In literacy we have worked hard while reading our new reading books and are continuing to stop and discuss them regularly. This makes sure we know what is happening and understand the stories. We have also planned and written very detailed imaginative stories all about Roman soldiers and their adventures.

In maths and numeracy we have continued to work on counting in groups of numbers (forwards and backwards), solved some tricky number problems both individually and in groups and some of us have been practising our times tables too.

We are very proud of the hard work and effort we put in to our Romans assembly this morning. It has been a tricky but very exciting few weeks as we have had lots of words to learn, things to make and songs to sing but we have had great fun and enjoyed working closely with P3/2 to end our topic. We hope everyone enjoyed it!

Have a lovely (and hopefully sunny) weekend,

Miss Calder and P3G.

Upper School Photo’s

I thought I would put up some of the photos of the boys and girls of the upper school having fun while learning.

Primary 7 and P6/7 worked together in their outdoor P.E by taking part in a variety of exercises and routines before completing a running challenge in teams. The children had lots of fun and were very puffed out by the end.

The Upper school also took part in the dance competition last week, were they all danced various dance moves, non stop for 1 hour. It was brilliant fun and the teachers also had a great time showing their moves on the dance floor.

Here are some photos-some are very funny 🙂

Blackburn Gala Day – Murrayfield P.S Float Committee

Dear Parent/ carer,

We have been given the opportunity to decorate a float again this year for Blackburn gala day and are hoping to get a small committee together who would be willing to help design, plan and decorate this.

If you would like to be part of this committee and would be free to lend a hand to draw, paint scenes/ characters etc. then please come along to our initial meeting on Tuesday 9th May 2017 at 3.30pm.

Thank you

Mrs Waugh

A short, but amazing week in P4!

We have just had an amazing time in the hall taking part in the Dance-a-thon! Although we are a bit tired now, we managed to dance for a whole hour! We also managed to fit in a Gay Gordon’s and a Canadian Barn Dance – so much fun dancing with all our friends in P3, P5/4 and P5 too!

This week, we began our annual Heartstart sessions. This week, we revised our knowledge of what to do if we came across a conscious casualty. We remembered that we have to check for danger first, then check for response, then get help. We can phone 999 or 112 to get emergency services if they are needed.

In Numeracy, we were learning about arrays to help us with our multiplication facts. We already know that multiplication is repeated addition eg, 4X3 = 3+3+3+3. We are continuing to familiarise ourselves with multiplication facts for 2, 3, 4, 5 and 10.

This term, we are concentrating on non-fiction texts and their key features. Our writing will also be non-fiction based, as we will focus on Newspaper articles. If you have any recent (appropriate) newspapers that you can send in, they would be appreciated.

Please continue to support your child with any homework that is sent home and encourage them to attend Homework Club on a Wednesday lunchtime, if you think this would benefit them.

Have a lovely weekend!

P4 and Mrs Stewart. 🙂
