P6/5 News

The class are beginning to count down to the end of term, however we are continuing to work hard.

In Maths, the class have been learning angles. We enjoyed hunting for them inside the school and going outdoors into the playground area. We were surprised by the amount of the amount of acute and obtuse angles we could find on the Trim Trail and on the trees in the Butterfly garden.

On Thursday we had a Zumba instructor into help us improve our fitness and dance. We enjoyed trying out the dance moves and working together to do the limbo!

In writing , we looked at how to effectively peer assess our writing against the success criteria.  We worked in pairs to examine the quality of our writing and discussed it against the Scottish Criterion. Many of children were very reflective and willing to take on the feedback given.  I’m looking forward to reading the next piece of writing they produce during Big Write.

Have a great weekend 🙂

P7 News

Dear Parents and Carers,

We have managed to finish our class display just in time for the holidays 🙂 we have been looking at France and learning some French language and decided to create a street scene of Paris for our display. It looks really lovely and the class should be proud of their efforts.

This week while the boys and girls went to their St Kents Transition days, the P7’s took part in a Zumba class. It was great fun and everyone was very hot and tired after all the dancing.

Next week the boys and girls will have finished their reading books and I would like them to write a book report. We will discuss how this should be done and they can do a comparison of the books they have read or write a simple book report they have just finished.

Only 2 weeks to go….hoping it doesn’t go too quickly as then it will be time to say goodbye 🙁

Have a lovely weekend

P3G

We have had another fun week in P3.

For our topic this week have been doing some science investigations about how plants grow. We have all planted our own butter beans and will observe their changes over the next few weeks. Soon we will start making some predictions about what we think is going to happen to them.

We had a great time on Wednesday morning at the Magic Show. Everyone found Merlin’s magic tricks funny and we enjoyed it when pupils and teachers got to take part too.

Our sports day was a great success on Wednesday afternoon so well done to everyone for taking part. There were lots of good skills practised and great sportsmanship between all pupils as everyone was very supportive of each other. Thank you to everyone who came along to watch and support us.

Have a lovely Gala Day weekend.

JRSOs speak to new P1 parents

Skyeblue, Lara and Leah spoke to the new P1 parents this morning, telling them about their role as Junior Road Safety Officers for the school. Here is what they said:

What do we do?

Our job is to try to encourage children to be safe by telling them the road safety rules and we try to make it fun. This year we went round the school performing a magic trick. This was to help the children remember to STOP, LOOK, LISTEN, THINK before they cross the road. We hope that the all the children will remember this and help their friends to be safe around roads too.

Safe parking.

This year we have been taking part in a safe parking campaign. Earlier this year we went out and spoke to parents who were parking outside the school gates. This can be dangerous and the aim of our campaign is help parents and carers understand safe places to park.

Today we are going to give you a leaflet explaining that it is dangerous to park outside the gates. We have also made you a reminder to hang in your car.

Staff car park.

Please don’t walk through the staff car park. Lots of cars are coming and going all day and it is not safe.

Look out for the Park Safely bunting we have put up on the fence outside the school.

Well done girls!

Congratulations to both our relay teams for their fantastic efforts on Sunday 4th June.  The girls’ team were just pipped at the post and came in a fantastic second place, whilst our boys’ team had a triumphant win and got to bring home a trophy and gala shield.  All the children represented the school well and we are very proud of you all.  Great attitude, support and spirit between the teams, congratulations from us all!

P3 News

This week has been as busy as ever in Primary 3 with a lot of learning. We have all noticed an improvement in reading within the class including our concentration while reading and our ability to talk about our stories. This is great and shows our hard work paying off. The pupils’ aim is to read every day if possible and this can be done both at home and in school.

We linked this week’s writing to our garden topic as we planned, discussed and wrote instructions about how to grow a flower. Our writing included information about what plants need to grow and our completed pieces of work will create another topic display to share our learning.

We have had fun in maths this week as we have taken part in multiplication, subtraction and addition problems with some pupils even moving on to division. I have been so impressed with everybody’s great efforts when working with numbers and can see a real improvement in both mental maths and problem solving skills within the class.

In PE we have focussed on a range of activities that require concentration and co-ordination. These have been tricky but enjoyable and as we continue to do these weekly we will develop more skills.

We hope to share more exciting Sports Day news with you next week as long as we get some better weather!

Have a lovely weekend.
