Highlands Residential Information Evening

It is quickly approaching time for our residential. We would like to invite you and your child to an information evening on Monday 8th February at 6pm. We will put all the information shared at this session on the blog, for those who are unable to attend.

I have attached a clothing list to this letter in order for you to start preparing for the residential. This list will be discussed at the information evening.

Pupils will be expected to arrive at school at 7:30am on Monday 7th March and will arrive back at school at approximately 4pm on Friday 11th March.

Term 2 House Winners: Calderwood

Congratulations to Calderwood who won the House Cup in Term 2. Millie and Jamie organised a Glow Party which included, glow sticks, glow corners, games, dancing and lots of yummy food – chocolate fondue, popcorn, sweets and juice. A big well done to the house captain, vice captain and all the Primary 7s who helped to organise and run the party. A special thanks to Mrs Bokhari for helping with the food.

Well done Calderwood!

WCHS: P7-S3 Curriculum Information Evening

Dear Parents and Carers,

You are warmly invited to attend West Calder High School’s P7-S3 Curriculum Information Evening on Wednesday 20 January, from 6:30 pm. The evening will begin with presentations, following which there will be the chance to browse stands, talk to staff and pupils, and go online. This is a great chance to learn more about the subjects, skills and experiences that make up our broad general education, and the way we help pupils keep track of their skills development and achievements. We are delighted that P7 pupils in our cluster schools have the chance to start using didbook for their profiles this year, and will provide a brief introduction to didbook for parents and carers. We will also outline the timelines for specialisation of subjects in S2 and S3. Finally, we are very pleased to announce that a number of other partner agencies who support parents as well as pupils will be present on the evening with information stands, including:

• Sleep Scotland

• Healthy Reading Scheme

• Access to Employment (getting back into work)

• the Advice Shop

• Adult learning

• West Lothian College

• Community Learning and Development

We look forward to welcoming you to what we are sure will be a very worthwhile event.

Yours faithfully,

Fiona H Rowland Head Teacher
