Harvest Haul

Today, some pupils from P7A spent some time in the school garden harvesting the vegetables that we have been growing over the summer.

We dug up carrots, radishes, shallots, turnips and A LOT of onions! We were delighted and surprised to find lots of wonky looking veggies, particularly our carrots!

We have been busy weighing, washing and trimming the veggies ready to be shared with the school.

If you would like to take some of our school veggies home to try, please ask Ms Orskov for some this week. You’ll need to be quick, as stocks are limited, so it will be on a first come, first served basis.

All we ask is that you take a picture of yourself creating something yummy with your veggies and send it in to us. You can email it to the school office for the attention of Ms Orskov at wllinlithgow-ps@westlothian.org.uk

Good luck with your recipes! We look forward to seeing pictures of your creations.

40 Years of Palace Guiding at Linlithgow Primary!

As you may or may not know this year is the 40th Anniversary of Palace Guiding here at Linlithgow Primary School. I just wanted to let you know that we have just had some social media coverage about the 40th anniversary of the guides. There’s a tweet on Twitter

Historic Scotland ran a competition with our up coming guides to design a 40th Anniversary Logo. The competition was won by Charlotte Casey and Ellie McDonald.

The logo by Charlotte and Ellie is featured in the web news story. A press release has gone out too and STV are interested as well as local and national press. The 40th anniversary event tickets are on Eventbrite.  The event will take place at Linlithgow Burgh Halls on Sunday 13th August. All welcome.

Tigers make it to George Allan Final

The annual George Allan Football tournament took place on Sunday the 21st of May. Our Linlithgow Tigers managed to win all but one game giving them a chance at the title in the final against Linlithgow Bridge Primary. Linlithgow Bridge stole a goal and despite all efforts the Tigers could just not equalise. It was a valiant effort by all. Well done Tigers. In the other League our Leopards dominated many games but were unable to secure a victory over Springfield, narrowly missing out a spot in the final.

Well done to both teams. They are now preparing for the next local competition which will be the Round Table Football Festival on the 4th of June which will take place at the Leisure Centre on the new 3G astro turf pitch.

Cluster K’Nex Challenge

A fantastic morning with Primary 6 pupils from all cluster schools coming together to take part in a Cluster K’Nex Challenge. The teams had to construct a wheelbarrow to carry a house brick through a challenging obstacle course.  The wheelbarrows were all tested in the gym hall and the ‘ladder of doom’ ended the fate of many of them. All of the teams did a brilliant job and a huge well done to Winchburgh Primary who constructed the wheelbarrow which was the most successful.

‘Curse of the Stewarts’ – Film Premiere

Last night saw the Premiere of the ‘Curse of the Stewarts’ – 6 short films created by pupils from S2 at Linlithgow Academy and performed by all our P6 pupils here at Linlithgow Primary.

S2 Created the scripts and our P6 pupils acted them out. They were filmed at various locations down at the Palace by a professional film company. These short funny films will be used to help visitors to the Historic Scotland Website engage with some colourful characters of our past; James I, James II, James III, James IV, James V and Mary Queen of Scots.

P4A Beat Out a Banging Performance

On Monday night at Howden Park Centre, Livingston, our P4A class performed an amazing demonstration of their new skills. For the last 8 weeks P4A have been working with a project called Voice Beats which gives children an opportunity for innovation and creativity combining Japanese Taiko drumming and vocals. Please see a snap shot of their performance below.

They combined their talents with Linlithgow Bridge Primary School who were also part of the project for a joint finale mass drumming performance.
