Having lots of fun teaching and learning with P2/1!

P2/1 – Thursday 18th June

Hello P2/1

Thank you for all of your messages this week. I am glad to know that so many of you are still trying to do your best with your home learning as we get nearer and nearer to the summer holidays.

Here is the link to today’s Story Time from Home which is all about a rather naughty young wolf.  I think that I read this story in class last year (when the P2s were in P1!)  so some of you may have heard it before.  It does have a very important message which will help you to keep healthy which is one of the reasons I chose to read it this week.

Here is a link to a new website with a game for practising telling the time that you might like to try.  It is suitable for P1 and P2  – just select the level depending on what you can do already. Remember to select the 12 hour times.

Have a good day everyone and remember just do whatever you can.

P2/1 – Wednesday 17th June

Hello everyone,

I hope you all had a nice day yesterday on Marches Day.

Here is a link to a little activity that I saw on another school’s blog which I thought looked great fun. It has nothing to do with health but is all about racing caterpillars and it is really simple because you only need;

  • paper
  • pens
  • scissors
  • 2 straws

Below is the link to today’s Story Time From Home.  I’m sure lots of you will enjoy this story as I have read this one before in class and we had a great time at the beginning of the school year making our own Supertatos.

Hope you all have a super day!

P2/1 – Monday 15th June

Hello P2/1

I hope that you are all safe and well and have had a nice weekend.

First of all here is the link to the Time activities for the rest of the week. There are lots of things within this document and you are not expected to do them all.  Please just choose some and do them whenever you can.

This week there is no story writing.  You have to write and draw about ways that you can keep healthy.  Remember – the stories I read throughout the week might give you some ideas for this.

Tomorrow as you know is Marches Day in Linlithgow so there won’t be any blog post or Story Time From Home.  Below is a super picture of some bunting made by one of the boys in our class for this special day.

I’m sure it will look great in the window! I hope you all have a fantastic day and maybe do something special.

Fingers crossed the sun shines too!

P2/1 – Friday 12th June

Hello everyone

It’s nearly the weekend again!

Here is today’s Story Time From Home – no interruptions from Tufty today mind you! The story has a very important message all about good listening which is just as important at home as it is at school.

Below is a fantastic cat story that I have been sent this week and I thought you would enjoy reading it too. It was written and illustrated by one of the P1 girls in our class

Hopefully the weather will be nice at the weekend and you will all get outside to play and do nice things.

Stay safe and I will look forward to hearing from you and sharing another story with you on Monday.

Story Time From Home – Thursday 11th June

Hello everyone,

Here is the link to today’s story.  The book was written by Nick Butterworth who is famous for writing the Percy the  Park Keeper stories.  I haven’t read this story in class before so it may be one you are not familiar with. It includes a very nasty rat but a lovely ending – I do hope you like it as much as I do ( and Tufty does – as you will see fom the video!)

P2/1 – Thursday 11th June

Hello everyone!

Hopefully the weather will be a bit better today – to quote one of my favourite sayings it rained cats and dogs all day in Bathgate yesterday!  As you all know this is just a saying that means it rained very heavily. Wouldn’t that be a funny story though if it did rain cats and dogs in Bathgate? I’m not sure what Tufty and Cleo would think mind you – they don’t like the rain and they aren’t very happy about new cats coming into my garden never mind dogs too.

Today’s Story Time from Home is a book written by the author Nick Butterworth.  He is famous for writing the Percy the Park Keeper stories and I haven’t read this story before in class.  It has a lovely ending and I hope you enjoy it . Tufty certainly seemed to enjoy as you will see from the video!

Have a nice day and remember to send me your cat stories if you can.

P2a P2b & P2/1 Health & Wellbeing – Wednesday 10th June

Here is the Health and Wellbeing Challenge for this week.

This activity is designed to help your child develop his/her knowledge, skills and confidence to help them respond safely to risks they may encounter online.

Learning Outcomes

  • I am aware of and able to express my feelings and am developing the ability to talk about them.
  • I can show ways of getting help in unsafe situations and emergencies.

Activity 1: Quiz time!
 Rewatch Jessie & Friends Episode 2: Sharing Pictures at

https://www.thinkuknow.co.uk/parents/jessie-and-friends

 If you have access to a printer, print the Sharing Pictures quiz and ask your child to fill it in with your support.
No printer?    Read the questions and answer choices out loud and ask your child to tell you the answers.

 After finishing the quiz, talk to your child about how sometimes things that happen online can make us feel worried, scared or sad – just like Jessie, Tia and Mo in this episode. Tell them that if anything ever worries or upsets them, they can always come to you or another trusted adult for help, no matter what.

Activity 2:  Draw what makes you feel happy!

 Jessie, Tia and Mo love playing superheroes – it makes them feel happy.
 Take a sheet of blank paper and help your child fold it into quarters. Open the paper up again. There are now four spaces on the paper.
 In each space, ask your child to draw themselves doing something that makes them feel happy – a total of four different activities. These could be things they like to do on their own, or activities they enjoy with friends or family.
 They can write what they are doing under each picture if they’d like.
Remember –  we’d love to see your work!

P2/1 – Wednesday 10th June

Hello boys and girls

I hope you are all well and mangaing to do some home learning for your grown ups this week. I know it isn’t easy as it is such a long time now since you have been at school and had to sit quietly at a table in the classroom.  Hopefully you are all still trying to do your best and do something every day, at least for a little while. Remember to keep in touch with me even if you just want to say hello and have a little chat!

Here is the link to today’s Story Time from Home. You can see from the front cover it is another robber story but this time it isn’t the cats that do the stealing!

https://vimeo.com/427440282

You still have time to take part in the competition for The Marches bunting.  Here is the information poster again in case you didn’t see it on Friday.

Please remember as it is Wednesday that there is also Health and Wellbeing blog page today.  You will need a grown up to help you with this task .

Hope you have a good day!

P2/1 – Tuesday 9th June

Hello everyone,

Today is a very special day as it is the 50th Story Time from Home! It’s hard to believe that’s how many stories  I’ve read  – I wonder how many you’ve watched and listened to?

As well as this, today I have included a special story for you to read that was written by one of the girls in our class.  It is not only a super story but has lots of fantastic illustrations too.

I hope you enjoy reading it and listening to today’s cat story!
