{"id":10937,"date":"2019-05-13T12:49:34","date_gmt":"2019-05-13T12:49:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/wl\/livingstonvillageprimaryschool\/?p=10937"},"modified":"2019-05-13T12:49:34","modified_gmt":"2019-05-13T12:49:34","slug":"weekly-update-13-05-19","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/wl\/livingstonvillageprimaryschool\/2019\/05\/13\/weekly-update-13-05-19\/","title":{"rendered":"Weekly Update 13.05.19"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Since we last posted we have been learning about speech marks in literacy.\u00a0 We have been identifying speech marks in our books and also adding these to sentences to punctuate them correctly.\u00a0 In spelling we have learning to understand the oa\/ow sound and have discussed when to use each spelling.\u00a0 In writing we have begun to look at writing a description and were encouraged to think about using the literacy bubble to add more detail to our writing.<\/p>\n<p>In maths we have been learning about money and talking about different ways to make given totals.\u00a0 We talked about how to write amounts correctly using the &#8216;\u00a3&#8217; and &#8216;p&#8217; signs.\u00a0 We have also been trying to solve problems which involve money.<\/p>\n<p>In Health and Wellbeing, we have been talking about the different stages of the human life cycle and we thought about why we have different nutritional requirements at these different stages.<\/p>\n<p>With Mrs Stewart we have been learning the technique of paper folding which is called origami.\u00a0 Some of the animals we have made include a whale, a cat and a caterpillar.\u00a0 In drama we have been reading stories about pirates and we have been making pirate hats and acting out the stories.<\/p>\n<p>The children have enjoyed several assemblies over the past few weeks including one from P6 about their residential and one from P7 about sport.\u00a0 Mrs Mill lead an assembly about &#8216;Respecting yourself&#8217; and the children have been thinking about their own special skills and qualities that make them unique (we are looking forward to seeing the homework sheets when they are returned on Wednesday).<\/p>\n<p>Lastly, we have been writing comic strips as part of the &#8216;Oor Wullie&#8217;s Big Bucket Trail&#8217;
